As of Monday, May 19th, the SageTV Service no longer requires a subscription fee. This affects all current and future customers.

If you are a current monthly subscriber, please cancel your subscription via PayPal and your Access Code will remain active. If you purchased the annual subscription, please contact us at info@freytechnologies.com for refund options.

Now you will be able to take advantage of all the great features of SageTV for only $59.95 with no additional fees. Also, keep an eye out for the release of the SageTV Client version due out by the end of May.

The SageTV Client will introduce the ultimate Networked Media Center and PVR experience for less than $100! With the SageTV Client, you'll have access to the SageTV EPG, Favorites Manager, Search and streaming live and recorded video from any PC across your network. More information is available on our updated website at www.sage.tv.

Thanks and Enjoy!

Awesome! How are you guys able to provide guide data for free?! Is it still from the same source?

Also, are any additional markets being added? That doesn't affect me personally, but I'm sure a lot of people will be interested to find out.

The data is still from Zap2it and you'll still receive the same 14-days of data. We still have plans to support the entire US, but it won't happen for a few more months.

The reason we are able to drop the fee is because we have expanded our business model into other arenas in need for this type of service. That's all I can say for now.

Great news!

With the instability of schedualing program, a move like this protects users from things like XMLTV going away. My area [Columbus Ohio] is not supported, and I would like to know what your method of choosing new areas of support are? I am presently using XMLTV, but would feel better if your service eventually supported my area.

Thanks,
-Stan

Our Service support was always a two-step phase. We currently support what Tribune defines as the "Top 25 markets". These markets are the 25 largest TV viewing markets. Our next step is to provide the entire US data source. This is scheduled for no later than this fall.

I hope that helps and you can always try selecting one of our current data sources, say Cleveland and remapping the channels to match your lineup. Those settings will be saved going forward for all updates until you make any changes.

Ok so how do we do this? Do we just enter trial as the password and enter our area code and it works without expiring? Or do we enter our password from purchase of Sagetv? Or do we even need to enter a password now?

Sorry just wanting to be clear on how we do it. I looked at the link you provided but didn't see any info explaining this so i thought i should ask.

With any current version of SageTV, anything will work. You can use TRIAL or your current access code. In the future we will be removing that screen for the Release version of 1.3.

Does this affect your plans for international (or at least Canadian) coverage for the future? XMLTV is fine for now, but I was looking forward to native Sage Service.

We still have no plan for Canada or other countries. But we will readdress the possibility when we roll out US national support later on this year.

olyar15, if you are looking for a PVR solution that has legit Canadian listings my company is developing one. In fact, if you would be as kind as to fill out our survey, that would be a great help (this goes for any other Canadians out there!). The survey can be found here:

http://infopoll.net/live/surveys/s22830.htm

If you do not feel comfortable entering your email on the survey but would still like to be considered as a beta tester, simply email us at info@onshore.ca and we will add you name to the list.

We have gotten the express written permision of Frey technologies to post to the forums. For further updates you can check the new Canadian international forum on this message board.

Thanks,

Craig.
