I updated the original STV to display logo files for shows. It also shows the logo for the show on the OSD during playback.

Here's a screenshot:
To add your own show logo, create a sub-folder in your ChannelLogos folder called "Show". The same naming rules apply as with the Channel Logos (i.e. "FAMILY GUY.JPG" )

just a couple comments
the blocks are a strange way to do it
why not rows or columns?
also why not use the picture on the folders? rather than the file themselves
I would like to see a folder created whether or not there are multiple episodes of a show
I downloaded it but not sure about the squares???????

laurenglenn, thanks for sharing, I like to see new ideas. The squares give it a nice kiosk look.
kny3twalker, just because you don't like something doesn't make it strange. How about phrasing your suggestions nicer next time.
Edit:
OK, I guess I was overly sensitive. My apologies.

Thanks, but that's OK. It was strange, but I wanted to get the pictures to show up without wasting screen space.
Re: the squares on the Recording Menu..... I used to have an STV that was less "blocky," but you couldn't really see the pictures that well. Although, I did change the Detailed Info into a pop-up window, which I'll probably implement here too. It gives a nice "Windows" look to it, plus you can make those Pix much larger.
I admit that the OSD during liveTV needs to be cleaned up (and it will)...... I accept all comments, except for those with numerous expletives in them.... Those I respond to harshly :), but not others. :)
The file's been updated a little more tonight. I got the pix on the LiveTV guide, although having 3 rows doesn't look right. If I had more time, I'll work on that. If you go much smaller, you can't see the pictures on the PVR-350 out.....
Hopefully, I'll have time to put Actor pictures in there too for the Actor favorites..... :)

sorry that was not my point to be rude if I was
(my opinions are my own) I am not it was not done tastefully but it is not the most attractive to me
you often have commented on how you made your STV for the most info and such and such and not to be the most attractive
why you hating on my comment now
in the future I will try to think of better words to use because my intention is not to offend
if I said non typical, different, etc.... would have these been more acceptable?

Don't worry about it. I didn't take it in a bad way. It was honest and I appreciate that.
I like to be "unique" or unusual (or even strange). It's kind of a compliment. If everything were ordinary and drab, nothing would ever progress in life.
I'm glad no one said it was "f'n ugly" :)

cool
hey I am just happy that someone else making one getting bored now that the others are getting complete(finished up)
I really do think a having folders made with only one show recorded would be nice rather than folders being created after two or more are recorded
this would make folder pictures very nice
suppose you could use the same picture for the episodes themself as well though, huh

Here's an idea for your stv. Although I'm not sure if this is possible but it would be cool to have a screen frame capture of the actual recorded video as the show's thumbnail. This could be would be sweet for people who don't want to take the time to make a show logo.
It's nice to see another custom stv pop-up. Keep up the good work.:goodjob:

Thanks for the idea. I'll have to see how to do that with the thumbnail.
As far as the folders go, I just uploaded a new STV that does the logo on the folders as well. It took me a while to find the menu that was already defined for the folders. Apparently, it was in a different hierarchy, but I found it. :)
Thanks guys!

I PM'd yesterday morning to offer. :) See I do think of these things myself, sometimes. ;) I haven't heard back yet. However since a user has now brought it up in public... I'll make this post a sticky. I'll be glad to unstick it if laurenglenn, requests.
laurenglenn, now that it's a note/sticky you probably won't be able to change the thread name. If you want to change the name to reflect updates or totally change the title just PM me with the desired change. If you like I can auto updata the thread name with dates/versions whenever you update. I already do this for Malore's STV thread and would gladly do it for yours. :)
I posted in thread just to be sure that laurenglenn, knows what happened. My email has been a little flaky lately. :(

Thanks for the "sticky" :). At first, I wasn't sure what you meant by it, but now I see what you mean. The Auto Update thing is a great idea, and that's fine with me.
I'll probably keep the thread title the same, at least for now, but the AutoUpdate sounds like a great idea as long as it's not too much trouble.
Thanks,

It's not really any trouble. :) I just made an edit to show that you have a June 18 update out. I can format it anyway you like. I just used the same style I used for Malore's, but let me know if you'd like something different.

It's good to have a day off of work! :coffee:
I seem to have gotten rid of most of the cosmetic bugs I can find.
Fixes:
The Airing Detail and Recording Detail menus have been converted to pop-up windows.
Also fixed the "Right" bug that would select an item when the Right button was hit. It took a while to find this one as it was labeled as "Info" in a different section of code.
Made the favorites display the Show/Actor logos and moved this window into a pop-up window.
Any comments or suggestions are welcome, as always. Please post them here.
Thanks,
Lauren
P.S. Noticed slight bug after posting the STV. Slight speed increase and EPG bug fix.

Thanks for the tip! I'll do that.
New STV 6/19:
Removed ShowLogos from EPG (it was causing slowdowns) -- they still display on everything else.
Fixed EPG corruption after Pop-up menu was displayed.
Made OSD appear/disappear using 3-way display:
1st Display - Show Description / Time Scroll Bar
2nd Display - Time Scroll Bar only
3rd Display - blank screen

That's where it gets a little complicated. The original design was for it to group multiple items. I'll have to see how to do that, but it will take a little time as that code is a little more complex. But, nothing's impossible.... :)

ok tried it finally and I got lock up
I could not choose a show to within the guide
so went to liveTV and tried to change channels by inputing the channel number on the remote and lock up
the UI started doing strange things after that cause only the video/audio locked up
the UI also was hard to read in guide with the pop up but I really like the idea of the clear and transparent(with color) combination
very sweet surprised no one jumped on that before you
the guide the background image looked better and the icon for the channels looked better but I would disable the text if the person has pictures for the guide
the overlap was not as good as one or the other
Did also had color keying disabled while using overlay and the UI would not dissappear
I know this has happened before when sage was doing beta so it should e a easy fix
if you need snapshots or more details I would be happy to help
It will take a few days though
oh and still want horizonital folders as an option for the recordings

I made the transparencies more opaque, with each layer being "thicker" than the one before it to make it easier to read.
Transparency generally works with color keying on. I've tried running Sage with the color keying off and it has problems if VMR and color keying are both off. Generally, if you have a PVR-350 with UI and TV-out on, you should get the best results with this file. The 350PVR TV out is all I use (because it finally works :) ), but let me play around with it off and see what I can fix.
The text was turned off if there was a logo for the channel. I did keep the channel #, but made it smaller. Mainly because that may be useful to some (it is for me), but at least it doesn't block as much of the logo as it used to.
I'll keep trying to replicate the lock-up, but so far I've not been able to. Are you using the most recent drivers for the PVR-250/350? In the Hardware forum, there's a link to very stable drivers that make OSD work *really* well with newer chipsets. It locks up once in a while, but not more often than any other STV I've tried. I'll keep trying to track it down.
When you get the pics up, let me know. You should be able to hit the Windows Key + Print Screen on your keyboard to copy it to the clipboard, then open Paint and paste the screenshot. It's usually pretty decent and quick.
Thanks,
Lauren

ok unable to duplicate the problem I think it had something to where I had color keying disabled and the UI dissappearing
so no pictures of that at least
I also do not have a pvr350
I have 2 pvr 250s with the newest non mixed drivers
the official release drivers before hauppauge took on the challenge of getting the old cards to work with the new
ok, but I did find two bugs everything else was fine this time
first in the favorites manager there is no way to get the second column of favorites witha remote(works with a mouse)
and the other was when going into the scheduled recording I got six of the schedule recording was a liveTV show I was testing with after paging down beyond those firts six squares
it was ok again and then after paging back up again, it was back to what it should be
Also This is an EDIT: I just looked at the pictures and the now ok picture is still messed up showing that stupid show that I was testing with instead of the next episode that should be recorded of band of brothers
I included two pictures this time
sorry did not get screen shots of the past time
it was bad though the recording bar twice as long as normal and white with red in the middle the UI would dissappear and the video was frozen

Bug Fixes -- version 04-06-20alpha:
1. After leaving a Pop-Up Menu, EPG and SageRecordings window would change all cells to the one title. (I had to remove the AddStaticContext commands which was the cause of this. This command would have no effect if the menu wasn't a pop-up, which is why I never noticed it before.
2. Favorites Manager -- Conversion to the pop-up window caused the removal of a "Shifting" variable which didn't allow keyboard users to move up and down in the list.
3. Option Menu did not properly delete the item and close itself -- when Delete/Move to Library was selected, menu would change and item would still remain on the list.

Bug Fixes -- 6/20 alpha 2:
1. Fixed schedule link so that Parallel Schedules are active with pop-up windows.
2. Parallel Schedules now show the Show Name AND the Episode Title. This way you won't have to click each entry to see what episode is being scheduled. :)
3. Recording Schedule display corruption bug cropped up again. One last AddGlobalContext command was still there and was removed. Hopefully, that should take care of that.

Bug Fixes -- 6/22 alpha 2:
1. Cleaned up UI a bit more. Changed the pop-up window for the File/Airing Details so that the text doesn't overlay the picture. It became harder to see white text on a white picture, plus it obscured the picture too much.
2. Sped up things a little on a couple of menus by taking out redundant items.
3. Fixed menus in Album/Picture libraries. After chaning one of the themes, it affected all menus by making the buttons too wide.
Future plans:
1. Start update for Music Library. Hopefully, this should be done by next week.
2. DVD interface update.
3. After the two above are done :), I plan to "customize" the front interface.

It's up to each author to choose which featuree they want in their STV. Keep in mind most made the STV for themselves and then just made it public. However there has already been some cross polination, even if it's not immediately obvious to many users. The other thing to keep in mind is Dan's recent statement about making the Studio easier for users to pick and choose feactures. (http://forums.freytechnologies.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=45731#post45731) That's about all I've got to say. The rest is up to the authors and time. Or you can wait until Studio comes out.

STV creators can always add in features from the other STV's. Right now though we are each creating the STV the way we like it and we have different ideas how things should be done. Once you get some kind of Studio you can mix and match if you want.

Here's a minor update:
6/24/04 alpha2.4
Shows whose titles have a ":" in them, like Star Trek: Voyager, etc, can now use Show Logos. In order for them to work, put an underscore character "_" in the place of the colon.
I'm still in the process of removing question marks from the title, but the replaceAll function does not seem to accept it. It will be added as soon as a solution is found.

Try: title.replaceAll("\\?", "_");
laurenglenn
06-25-2004, 07:16 PM
Thanks, but it didn't work either..... :( The brackets couldn't do it, the "\p?" won't. :( Assuming that the question mark is the last character (which it most likely will be), how can I check to see if this is the case?

Well, since no details about the Studio development environment have been released, I can only speculate that you are writting this in java. If it is, rather, a scripting language, none of this applies, obviously.
I created the following example java code:
public class replace
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
String s1 = "Does this work? Will it work in Sage? Do you know?";
String s2 = "This is a statement.";
System.out.println(s1);
System.out.println(s1.replaceAll("\\?", "_"));
if (s1.endsWith("?"))
System.out.println(s1.substring(0, s1.length()-1));
if (s2.endsWith("?"))
s2 = s2.substring(0, s2.length()-1);
System.out.println(s2);
}
}
It produces the following output:
Does this work? Will it work in Sage? Do you know?
Does this work_ Will it work in Sage_ Do you know_
Does this work? Will it work in Sage? Do you know
This is a statement.
Hope this helps.

I just noticed a small bug that if you switch from a show with a show logo to one that does not have one defined, the old logo still is displayed. What I did was to create a JPG file that would get displayed over the original picture.

I think I may have found a better fix for the EOF bug in the STV than I had before. The fix involves a change in the time bar at the bottom of the screen.
The Music Jukebox mods are starting, but they're a long way off. You can use Artist logos. The same rules apply with the other logo folders, except that you'd use the "Artist" sub-folder instead.
For any "special" characters, put an "_" character in its place to make it work.

something funny was going on with your liveTV guide but I really like where you are going with it
also you can post what modifications you are adding when you release each versions
I do see the fixes but not a modification list
here a picture of the guide
It is mostly the different sizes of channel icons in each block and they are there twice and overlapping

I reverted the guide back to the way it used to be. I enlarged the rows to show the ShowLogos, but it slowed down the EPG a while back.
I'll add a list to each posting to make it easier to follow the mods when they occur.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fixes:
EPG display would display the channel logo twice. This has been fixed.
EOF problem still seems to show up on occasion, so I recently added code to tell Sage to close the file 5 seconds from the EOF with the CloseAndWaitUntilClosed command. This way, the close request goes in and when it's complete, it jumps back to the Recordings menu.
Mods:
Added some "garbage collection" code to the STV to hopefully optimize and reduce cache usage. Maybe it will reduce the EOF problem that seems to pop-up periodically.

Hey I am just guessig though that each block in the guide is supposed to have a channel logo, right?
No problem with but I found that show currently playing has a bigger icon than the past show and the future show
no problem with that either
but if the show is only a half hour long compared with 2 hours long the icon is smaller for the hour half than the 2 hour, is it supposed to be like that ?

The item is in a panel whose size is a percentage of the size of the cell. If the item is 1/2 hr, then it's smaller than one that's 1 1/2 hr.
This is fixed in the current release because I took it out of the guide for each show. It was added to the Theme for something else. Because of this, I created a second Theme to fix it.
You might want to grab the file again, because I just added code to clean up memory every few seconds and to tell the system to close the file 5 seconds before it ends. It seems to work well for problems with EOF and rebooting.

A few slight changes with this release. I haven't gotten too much done with the Album page modifications because I've been trying to get the STV to run better with the EOF problem.
The conditional I added in the last version seemed to close the file when there was a DirectShow problem. I took out the Close request and put in a Reload request, which seems to have taken care of that problem. It also fixed the EOF problem and seems to have alleviated the slowdown I've been experiencing after a file hits the EOF.
Hopefully, this will fix this problem.
Other additions/fixes:
Organized the OSD to not have the show description overlay over the ShowLogo. This used to make the text almost unreadable over a Logo with a white background.
EOF seems to be working now. It quickly jumps back to the Recordings menu after a file playback has finished.

laurenglenn,
I just updated the thread title for you. But the real reason I posted is that since you seem to be going after 350 users with your STV. ie You added the EOF workaround. I was wondering if you could add a workaround for the soft lockup issue mentioned in the "Calling all Hauppauge 350 users for satisfaction poll" thread. (http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=47118#post47118) I mention a possible method(simply automate what many users already do and attach it to a custom command) to do this in my last post there, but I'm sure you could do something better or at least refine it. Just a suggestion, I thought you might be able to help those still having some issues.

justme's idea of automating the gui off then on, output off then on, sleep then out of sleep (some version of that sequence) would be great.

Sounds great. I'll work on that after I get home from work tonight.
FWIW, the Reload fix not only reloads the file, but will also automatically turn off and then turn on the UI (if the 350 hardware is present). It seems that Reloading the file on an error would turn off the 350UI.
It reminds me of an old CD player program I wrote. The CD timer display would always stop playback and revert the time to zero whenever there were multiple MPlayer requests (but this would always occur under NT/XP, but not Win98. It seems more like a Microsoft issue than anything else.) For some reason, multiple requests by a program for current time and file duration sometimes returns an odd value. The only way to fix it was to not have the program stop when you got the MPlayer error, but to ignore anything extraneous. Hopefully, the conditional I put in will do the same thing.
But I do like the idea of attaching the UI on/off and output on/off to a custom command. That seems "do-able." I'll have to see if it's possible to set Sage to sleep/then wakeup from Sage. If it is, I'll definitely put it in there.

Now we just need the ability to combine your STV with other STVs! I know I know...Studio will solve everything. I would love this capability in Malore's STV (Malore....can you do this?)

Malore is welcome to use anything in my STV, if desired. I hope that I could as well, but that's up to Malore.
I also wanted to mention that I added the following listeners:
Custom1: Turns off OSD and then turns in back on.
Custom2: Turns off LiveTV and then back on. (this one is untested, so if there are any problems, let me know).

Is sleep disabled on purpose?
The custom1 button comes in handy....it's still a bit of a tricky to even get the ui to come back up after a soft lockup though.

The only soft lockups I seem to get is when the PVR350 overheats. I guess I'll have to put a fan on the heat sink.
If you wait until the TV video goes black (as in a period of inactivity), you should be able to reopen the file and use the Custom 1.
Sleep isn't disabled to my knowledge. I've put Sage to sleep many times from the menu and by using Ctrl-Z. Did you look at the keystroke commands? Let me know....

Why do you think the soft lockup is due to overheating? While it is possible I have real doubts if overheating is the problem.

Mine will generally run fine for a very long time. When it locks up, I check the temp of the heat sink and it's very hot. Maybe I'm wrong, but the two seem connected.

An interesting bug was discovered today. It seems that if you bring up the Show Info optionbox and immediately move down, the 350 output would immediately crash.
I turned off the scrolling on the text at the bottom and made the buttons on the right be the item that's highlighted as default.
If you go to the first post, the hyperlink is there.

Also, something I've noticed is that if the system seems to crash a bit, run the Primary program that came with the PVR350 and change Allow VMR to Allow Overlay.

The Java editor is the Studio interface. And I had an Excel spreadsheet open behind it. The only thing that corresponds to Sage is the Java Studio editor..... :)

I changed the timescroll bar and made a couple of changes with the hooks in the MediaOSD menu. There are a few other tweaks here and there. You're welcome to talk about it via private discussion if you'd like.
I uploaded a new version with an attempt at getting some kind of Keyword favorite added. If you go to Favorites Manager, go to Keyword Favorite and look at the new menu.
It's a little incomplete, but if you hit "Record All," it will add a favorite using the format I intend to use. Hitting the "Done" button will cause Sage to put in Record requests for *all* shows with the search word. It will search by Title, Episode, and description.
That part's still alpha, but it's an indication of the possibility......

I think I may have the Keyword Favorites active. :)
The favorites should show up in your favorites listing starting with "**"
Let me know if it works for you. It seems to give the keyword listing a low priority making the other Favorites with higher priority.
This is just a temporary work around until Narflex implements Keyword Favorites (which I hope he will).

Awesome :jump: I ask about someone doing something like this is a puiblic post(in the customization forum) a while back. I'm gled to see someone with the needed skills/talent, had the same idea.:) I'm defintely going to have to try your newst STV out. I'm going to edit(right after this post) the thread's title to reflect your newest update, like I normally do.
However I think I'll edit the title to reflect that you have added keyword favorites to your STV. This is a signifigantly new feature to justify changing you STVs name, IMHO. I just want others who haven't yet tried your STV to be aware of this great new feature and help you perfect it. If you don't like the name change reflecting the addition of keyword favorites, let me know and I'll rename it back to your original name with just the date updated(just like I've been doing since you started).

I made a few cosmetic changes and a couple of bug fixes. Airing Info now shows up in a new pop-up window.
More transparency is used and should show up very well on a PVR350.

I started my DVD mods today. When playing a DVD, there will be an ID # printed on the OSD. Using this, you can create DVD logos (just like with the Show/Actor logos). Just make sure they're in the ChannelLogos directory under the "DVD" subdirectory.
Use the ID string given. For example, the Butterfly Effect Theatrical Cut DVD :) has an ID# of 4-22-6810000. In the path of ChannelLogos\DVD\, if there's a file called "4-22-6810000.jpg", it will display during playback.

I wish I could. You could ask Mlbdude to do it..... I'm pretty sure that Mlbdude has Studio. :)
Anyway, on a different note, I started the DVD mods as I posted before, but I also added a minor fix for the PVR350 owners out there.
If the PVR350 freezes up during playback, bring up the Options pop-up and hit Close. The screen from the PVR350 should go black. If it doesn't, wait until the screen does go black. To re-enable the 350 OSD, all you need to do is to jump back to the main menu. The main menu hook recently installed will turn your OSD back on. If you have OSD turned off through the Detailed Setup, it should not go back on.
Basically, the hook checks the IsPVR350Enabled variable to see if you wish it to be enabled. When the PVR350 OSD gets turned off because of a minor freeze, Sage reports that the OSD is still on (which is what the hook depends on to turn back on the OSD).
You can still use Custom1 to turn the OSD back on, but now you can also just jump back to the main menu.

OK. I got a few more DVD mods in place.
Additions:
Changed OSD a little. Put most options like Next Chapter & Prev. Chapter next to FF and REW.
Buttons appear above timebar allowing you to change the audio, subtitles, and jump to the main menu. The Audio & Subtitles will display an OptionBox allowing you to change to the appropriate Audio & Subtitle respectively.
If multiple angles are present, an "Angle" button will appear.
I plan to change some of these buttons to pictures to make them look nicer. For now, they're just for functionality.
If Sage returns IsShowingDVDMenu (on a DVD Menu), the FF, REW, and Play buttons will turn into an Up/Down/Left/Right/Select display. For some reason, the STV sometimes shows the Menu selection arrows when a new chapter starts. I'll look at my STV to see if I can work around it.

I downloaded the latest version of your STV and I love it. The only disadvantage that I can see is that somehow text from TV Guide is not disapearing imidietly, so if I scroll up or down sometime those texts that do not turn off overlaps other headings making them unreadable. the same thing with channel logos etc. I did notice it only in the TV Guide mode. other than that I like your STV a lot. Best feature is the watch TV button. :) I missed this from any other STV or the SageTV itself, I think this should be the default everywhere :)

I used to have that problem when 3D acceleration was turned on. On mine, it had something to do with VMR and my video card.
If you have a PVR350 it doesn't do that for the 350 UI. Let me know if that helps.... and thanks again for the kind words! :)

Somehow it did not help. I have AGP ATI 8600 card to display my video to my TV, I dont use my 350 card for displaying video back to my TV. I have also two pvr-250 cards in but I dotnt think it could have any effect. I do not have 3D acceleration on, and I did play with VMR and Overlay but the same results... Any other suggestions? This is on my client PC so maybe that has to do with anything...
Thanks.

enable color keying
with overlay rendering and turn off 3d acceleration
that will fix it
or turn on VMR9 rendering with 3d accelerationenabled
I found there seems to be no issues with using VMR9 rendering through a video card's svideo output
you know she is making this STV mostly for pvr 350 users
maybe you should consider looking into that option again

A few new updates:
* An additional airings popup displayed from a Favorite would cause Sage to lock up. This is now fixed.
* Search by Description, Search by Person, Search by Title would cause the same lock up, or would result in an empty popup window. This was fixed by passing different variables to the calling tables.
* Time bar on OSD display is now more translucent.

When "Watch Now" is selected, the system has a hook installed to ask if you want to cancel the current recording. Hopefully, that will stop the system from stopping with an error messagebox.

I tested this STV as I was having the end of file bug and it helped but in the tv guide screen the text would overlap as another user had mentioned. You mentioned it shouldn't happen using the tv-out from a 350 but that's what I use and have the same issue. Other STVs don't have that problem.
Also in case this helps others, the end of file didn't start happening until I updated the drivers for the 350 (using the ones available from the Hauppauge site, not from shspvr.com) so I went back to the previous drivers, wiped everything out of Sage except for wiz.bin and reinstalled Sage and I don't have the problem anymore. I used to also have the problem with it locking up when I would ffw a lot but I put a slot fan to cool the 350 and seems that has taken care of that issue. Using the Vantec SP-FC70.

Try downloading it now. I changed a few things:
1.. Favorite conflicts now display the episode title in the listing to help you make a proper determination (also the episode description is there too)
2.. A couple of cosmetic changes.
3.. Grid increased to more rows and the text no longer goes over the scrolling arrows.

It overlaps, perhaps, but maybe slightly. There's two things here. If the text doesn't slightly overlap, then the text of the show has to either shrink or be truncated.
I guess I'll have to take out the arrows from the EPG grid. When I used to have DSS, it didn't have arrows on the EPG.
You say that other STVs don't do this and don't do that, but that's why customization is great. Sure, maybe mine doesn't do half of what Malore's or MLBDude's do, but then I have a full time job and don't have a lot of free time to spend on designing this.
This STV does things that I wanted to have Sage do, so I tried to implement them. It was just something that I really wanted to see and I hope that other people will enjoy it too. If not, then everybody got their money's worth. :) If you did, then you got a bargain. :)

Actually I only mentioned the tv guide overlap not happening with other STVs to hopefully rule out a problem with my setup. I actually don't need a lot of the things offered in other STVs, yours sounded appealing because it seemed to correct issues I was having using the 350 tv-out. I appreciate the work you've done but I thought you might want to be informed of any possible bugs.
I'll make this my last post on the issue as I think maybe there's a misunderstanding of the problem. If I'm on the main menu screen and I click the TV guide link, I get all the channel and show info but I can still see the main menu in the background so it makes the text a little hard to read. Same with the episode information, if I go from one show to another, the old show information can still be seen behind the current show info, again making it hard to read.

OK, I decreased the transparency of the items that overlap the screen (i.e. pop-up windows).
If you are getting "ghosting," as in when you jump from MainMenu to EPG Guide, check to see if the following settings are set under Advanced:
3D Acceleration: DISABLED
Overlay Keying : ENABLED
I don't get any "ghosting" on my end, although I am still looking.
New fixes:
TimeBar at bottom of screen now has properly set "Missing" sections. It is also transparent so that if you like to keep it on during LiveTV like I do.
Also added Mlbdude's weather module (and gave full credit on all menus and screens). -- I believe the Weather java was done by " nielm", so I want to give credit where it's due. I'll make sure to add it to the STV.
Added a "hook" in the title menu to hopefully stop problems with file playback ending when on a different menu.
To download the new STV with Weather, copy the contents of the ZIP file and extract with sub-folders into the same directory as the *laurenglenn.stv* file.

Quite a few cosmetic changes in this release:
1) Main menu redesigned from original V2 version. It now is split in two and displays Upcoming Recordings (and ShowLogos) on right side.
http://download.sage.tv/users/laurenglenn/StartUp.jpg
2) There is now less transparency in the menus. People have told me that the menus show too much of the text from lower menus and it becomes confusing. So, I made the menus only slightly transparent and with a darker color. This way, even if it is transparent, you can still clearly see the text on the current pop-up.
3) I changed the code in the EOF routine to tell Sage to Stop playback when a file reaches 5 seconds before EOF. Sage will continue to play back the rest of the file, but it should close the file immediately after and keep going without slowdown....

Maybe I'll make another post after all. I wasn't sure if the "ghosting" problems were because of something in my setup but the latest version is definitely much better. I can still see it slightly in the background but it doesn't affect readability so the changes definitely helped. Thanks for that.
One thing I found is in the setup menu, the Exit Full Screen section is not centered, set to the left. Everything else is centered. Other than that things look very good. Great job.

I'm glad you mentioned it because the changes made do make a noticeable difference in readability. Thanks again.
Also, you may want to download the "STV w/ Weather file" to get Malore's commercial detection with the STV. I'm going to be working on auto-commercial skip this week; it may be working by mid-week.... *fingers crossed*

Well, I managed to integrate the manual Commercial skip feature. You can use Custom 4 (rew.) and Custom 5 (FF) to jump by commercial breaks. I also mapped the DVD Chapter Previous & DVD Chapter Next to do the same thing, so you don't need to map 2 new buttons on your remote if you already mapped the DVD controls to them.

It is definitely much better now but I still see it slightly in the LiveTV Guide menu for example. It is not that I cannot read anymore, in the past when I did try it I simply could not read any text unless I did move my mouse pointer up and down few times... :)

Not sure if this is intentional but in the Live TV Guide if I'm watching one show and want to change to another I have to first stop the currently watched show before I am able to switch to another channel.
I've also found that my computer will not go to sleep whenever I try using an STV with the weather module. Do you know if it's constantly pulling data? Thanks.

To my knowledge, it only pulls data when you go to the Weather page. I'll look into it, though. It was written by Nielm; I may just have to ask him.
I went to the LiveTV Guide and tried to change channels. It seemed to let me without incident. I did notice that the dialog box that comes up doesn't always show the "Watch Now" button if the show started an hour or so back. For some reason, it wouldn't show Watch Now if it wasn't showing Commercial Detect. I moved the Commercial Detect button to the bottom and all is fine. Hopefully.... :)
The only time I've had Sage ask if you want to cancel watching a show is if it's in the process of recording the show that you're watching. It's kind of like that Delete Confirmation that Windows gives you. The "hook" installed asks you this because if it didn't, you'd get a cryptic error message that says "User conflict resolution prohibits channel change" or something to that effect.
For both items, give me a little time (probably by Wednesday night I should have an answer). Either way, I'll post the status of the fixes.

For the problem with the Weather module with Sleep mode, try deleting the GetWeather.EXE file or renaming it. Sage tries to execute GetWeather.EXE. If it can't find it, then things should go on as normal but it won't invoke the Weather module. Let me know if that helps.
New fixes as of 9/1/2004 1:05am (it's getting late :) )
1. Commercial Skip now will check the first 5 segments of a file. For example, if your file is broken up into 5 sections (i.e. you changed a channel during recording, your computer crashed on you, etc. -- anything that would have Sage stop recording), it will still do the commercial scans for all the files and it should properly display the Commercial breaks in the time bar for those first 5 segments.
Both the Commercial Skip in Sleep Mode and the manual Commercial detection button will run Comskip in the first 5 segments.
I'll extend that to 30 after work on Wednesday. It does stop when the segment doesn't exist, so the limit can even be set to 2 million and it won't cause a problem.
2. Fixed "Watch Now" button that would not display if Commercial Skip was not shown. "Commercial Skip" button moved to bottom of Pop-up window.
Known issues:
1. While the multiple segment commercial display does show correctly, I haven't gotten around to updating the commercial skip to stop on those segments. It will involve a little more creative solutions to get that to work, but it should be able to be done by Thursday. :) It will, however, stop on the commercial stops of the last segment of the file, but not any of the previous ones.
2. When doing a manual commercial skip check from the pop-up menu, it will inform you of the segment completion after each segment. It's a little annoying, but this will not happen if Sage processes Comskip during Sleep Mode.
Using Background processing in Sleep mode will cause Sage to search for commercials in files that are to be recorded in the future after the file has completed recording. It's a great option and runs at Low priority, so Windows XP will free up processor time if you start running other programs.

Updates for 9/5/2004:
Minor bug fixes. Turned on debugging on my end and noticed a couple of entries that weren't rendering properly when EOF was hit.
Fixed a minor bug with the commercial background checking that would show up if it encountered a show with multiple segments. Once it did, it would only search for Segment #2 for all other files.
Fixed: Commercial Skip Detection would not start from the first Options menu when watching LiveTV. It would still work if brought up under the Detailed Info or from any other menu.
Also, Show/Actor/DVD logos will dynamically load and if the file is changed, the logo display also changes. Images are now unloaded and loaded to avoid restarts to get Logos to display.

Fixes for 9/6/2004:
Starting Commercial Skip will now keep trying to read the TXT files generated by Comskip until commercials are detected. In other words, if you start Commercial Detection, your PVR-350 locks up, and you reopen the file later, Sage will update the commercial breaks when Comskip finishes. It will no longer assume no commercials are present if it finds an incomplete TXT file.
Recording Listings are now shown in 2x2 format to make the logos show up larger. Soon, I will add an entry to Sage.Properties that will customize this and will make it customizable in Sage.

100th Reply! :)
OK. Minor fixes in this release.
1) The "Delete Now" button will now delete all the Comskip text files that go with each MPG file that is deleted.
2) Custom2 command in LiveTV will perform the following commands: Close File + Turn off/on PVR350 UI + Jump back to Main Menu + Turn off/on PVR350 UI.
The reason for #2 was that this combination seems to get back the UI on the PVR350 for me when it crashes mid-stream in a file (possibly due to overheating). If the UI doesn't back on, wait about a minute and you should see the UI reappear if you go back to the Main Menu.
3) Weather module was converted to a pop-up window. An additional entry will come up in the Options menu during LiveTV to allow you to display the weather forcast.

Fixes for 9/12/2004:
1) Noticed something when I had to reinstall XP. Some dialogs would not show all options in the Options Popup menus. This was due to the dialog being set as Vertical instead of Vertical Grid.
2) Started implementation of Malore's Closed Captioning. Sage will extract CC data only from DVD compliant streams with a PVR250 or PVR350 if you enable ClosedCaptioning in the Registry. You will need version 0.3 of MPG2SRT.EXE (which is now included in the laurenglenn.zip file). Put this in your WINDOWS directory or any other directory set in the Windows's PATH environment variable.
CC extraction is tied into the Commercial Detect right now. I will sever the two when I get CC fully active. But for now, if you hit "Commercial Detect (by Malore)" in any of the menus, CC extraction will also occur.
Known issues soon to be fixed:
1) For CC when it is active, I will have Custom3 set to display the CC window and Custom4 will reload the CC data.
2) Recordings and Recording Schedule wrap vertically in grid of 2x2. This will be fixed soon.

i was using another stv because for whatever reason sage would lock up on me while watching a show when using your stv. this happens with other STVs occasionally, typically when I'm ffw due to the known 350 driver/heat bugs but this one happens at random times with no ffw happening. i tried the most recent update and it is still happening. at first I thought it was because I removed the weather executable but I put everything back and still locks up. it seems to have started happening when the commercial detection was added but not sure if that would be the cause. I have those settings disabled. is there an error log I can look for to get some ideas?
another question you may be able to help with, is there a setting in the sage.properties file where I can disable the osd when ffw/rw or is that something specific to your stv?
or do you have a version of your stv that doesn't include the weather and commercial detection features? thanks.

I'll look into the FF/REW problem. I don't seem to have experienced that, but I used to get lockups during LiveTV playback. If you can give me a little time to look into it, I should have something soon.
In about 10 minutes, I'm going to upload a new version. With this, if you want to disable the Commercial Detection, you can turn this off by changing:
commercial_auto_skip = false
This can also be done during playback by bringing up the Options Menu.
You can also add the following line to your Sage.Properties file:
laurenglenn/OSDDisableForFF = true
Let me know if that works for you.

Fixed a bug in the Recordings menu that would keep Refreshing the screen, causing the CPU usage to jump to 90%.
The cell that is selected on the main menu's Upcoming Recordings, EPG, Sage Recordings - now have the rotating gradient rectangle to highlight which cell is selected.
I added an option to the Options Menu of both the EPG and Sage Recordings pages to allow dynamic changes to the grid size. It may not update until you leave the menu and come back.... this will be fixed to automatically redraw when I can find a work-around.

tried the latest version and i set it to watch live tv, walked out for about 30 minutes and when I got back it was locked. i went ahead and wiped out sage again, deleted everything except for wiz.bin and reinstalled, still happens. i had commercial detect disabled in the detailed setup and in the menu watching a recorded show (right-click menu) but no luck.
reconfigured maldude stv which outside of the weekly ffw lockup (it would probably happen more often but I ffw carefully/slowly which is unfortunately necessary) works fine so still not sure what could be causing the lockup. thanks for trying though.
it appears all I really need is the ability to disable osd display when rewinding or fast forwarding but it looks as if yours is the only stv with that feature so hopefully one day I can get it to work. thanks.

Fixes for 9/26/2004:
1) Weather module has been repaired. It wouldn't load data if the GetWeather.EXE file were used. Also, if the XML site were reporting a chance of percipitation, the subsequent days would show up incorrectly (or not at all).
2) Added Bitrate and MPEG size details to the Recording Quality dialog box. For example, it would show:
Best 6000kpbs 720x480
3) I'm working on an EPG for LiveTV display that is like the one I've heard people like from Tivo. It's far from complete and doesn't fully work with the mouse when selecting channels, but it will be more functional a few days from now.

New fixes:
Updated COMSKIP.EXE located in the full ZIP file which can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this post. This new version of COMSKIP 0.31 works very well and uses new techniques for better commercial detection.
New COMSKIP.EXE (written by Jere_Jones) can be downloaded from here:
http://forums.freytechnologies.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=59640#poststop
Changes made to COMSKIP detection to hopefully allow COMSKIP to run (and work) on files that are located in a different drive than Sage is.
Also, commercial file parsing has been fixed to prevent re-reading of the file after commercials have been detected in all segments. Previous versions would constantly re-read the file(s) causing higher CPU %. In a file with multiple segments, Sage will still update the commercial display after each segment has been parsed.

Update for tonight:
I noticed that the COMSKIP was working great for manual COMSKIP detection, but Sleep mode would not properly generate commercial skip for the newest version of Comskip 0.31
This has now been fixed for sleep mode.
EDIT: A minor fix to the sleep mode.... The code I copied from the Manual update had a slight variable naming difference to avoid conflict with the Upcoming Recordings/Current Recording tab on the main screen. This caused the COMSKIP to not execute.... Fix one bug and another one always comes up.... :bang: That's programming for you.... :)

Fixed background and Live COMSKIP processing. It now will constantly run in a loop with delay timers so CPU usage doesn't get too high. Also, it will parse through all files in the Library/Sage Recordings, and will generate a commercial listing IF the file is a complete recording.

Quick update for 10/8/2004:
Added a Custom5 command from the Main Menu to force COMSKIP background checking to start. Sometimes if Sage crashed and the program was forced to close, the Global Variable would be set and Sage would think that COMSKIP was already in progress.
Also changed the detection code that determines if COMSKIP is running. If you have not gone to the Main Menu in 3 hours and COMSKIP is not running, it will start auto detection. This allows the Auto Detect to resume if the system crashes, if you load another STV, or if Sage is closed and then restarted. If you close Sage and restart, use the Custom5 to restart auto-background detection.

I noticed that with the 3hr window I just put in that if you close Sage during ComSkip, or if it crashes, that it won't continue Comskip background detection until the Main Menu is refreshed.
Code has been added that if you're within that 2hr window, it will pause for 6 minutes and then retry the check. This way, if you're system reboots or the above happens, Comskip will still resume.

I am sure I could use it but the fast STV switching is really nice
I'm currently running 2.1 and it runs just fine for me. :)
I'm trying to get some of the XML customizations that I've seen Nielm do put in there somehow. The STV is still being updated and as soon as I can get some time, I'll put much more in there than there is now. I'm going to try to keep the XML format similar to Nielm's so that users can switch from one STV to another without having to reconfigure.
Now that I've got a general idea of the new interface and have seen some screenshots of music interfaces that I like... I may finally get something done with the music interface that I've wanted to do for a while....
But, for the most part, you do have access to 2.1's Keyword favorites feature and CC support. Hopefully, future builds will allow for the capture of right-click so I can add custom context menus (like with the Windows right-click).... There will be alot more going into this STV....

Well, it's official. Due to lack of interest lately in this thread (mainly the fact that the last 20 or so posts in the past month were 95% mine -- and the fact that I barely have time to update it), this STV will no longer be supported. I had fun making it and I thank all of you who used it and/or showed support for me.
Hopefully, some of you who have or get Studio will find some use in the STV I tried to customize and have as much fun making your own as I did with mine.

Personally, if there were one thing I'd like copied out of this STV, I'd take the COMSKIP routines. They allow for multiple segments to have COMSKIP information and it calculates the start & stop times for all commercials in all segments.
I did love the Actor/Show logos, but that's probably just a personal thing. :)

P.S. Take anything you'd like from it. There's no point in killing yourself re-inventing the wheel.... :) All the STV's here have their own highlights... Plus, it's the best way to learn... At least for me it was. :)

You just need to put a JPG file into the appropriate directory. There are ones for Actor, TV, etc.
When Sage tries to display a favorite, a program description during LiveTV or in any menu, or any items in the Sage Recordings menu, it will show the logo.
What I'm going to try to do this time is to put ZIP files with show and actor logos onto my webpage. This way, you won't have to create ones from scratch or if you make improvements to one, I can share it with everyone.

OK. There were a few bugs fixed in this release. Mainly problems when selecting DVD Audio Renderers and the like. Everytime you fix one thing, another bug always pops up.
Other fixes:
Selecting Schedule Recordings brought up the Setup menu. This has been fixed.

One addition made to this release that I wanted to add:
You can now specify Actor and Title favorites *even if* it is not found in a search. There is a "Manual Add" button that can be hit to force the system to add the favorite. You may find this useful when you see a preview for a show on TV that's not going to air for 3 weeks. This way, you can set the Favorite NOW and it will record as normal.
I'm not sure if it allows for wildcards; it may have to be an exact match to work. If you want to use wildcards, you can use the Keyword favorites menu.

A few new updates here:
I added some Show Logos to the ZIP file, so you can see the effect when browsing for shows.
BTW, if you're looking for Show Logos, you can use Google.com 's image search. I found quite a few good ones there quickly.
Other changes:
Removed the fade-in/fade-out for now. It seemed to slow down the display on the 350 as well as on my monitor.
Added a secondary time display bar. It seemed pointless to have all the mouse buttons available when you're using the remote. If you set Show Mouse Icons to Disabled, it will display just a simple time bar at the bottom. Otherwise, you can hit Info again on your remote to cycle from (1) Show Info/MediaPlayer timebar, (2) MediaPlayer Timebar, (3) simple timbar, (4) blank screen.

I recently added Nielm's XML Menu configuration to my STV. The inclusion is preliminary and seems to work fairly well.
There are a few more modules to add to make it more functional like Cayars's STV, but for now, you should be able to add and move around menus.....
Changes:
* Nielm's XML configuration menus
* Changes timebar display to display either simple time bar/skinned time bar in Options menu
* Fixed minor bug in COMSKIP routine in STV

I'm going to have an opportunity to do some more testing this weekend (hopefully...) so I'll report back then.
Congratulations on some great progress!

Thanks! I look forward to hearing what you think.
---------------------------------------------------
Here's a view of the new main menu:
http://download.sage.tv/~laurenglenn/XMLMenu.jpg
Changes:
Cayar's Mini-Guide is now displayed during file playback/LiveTV. Clicking on the bar will display show information and will allow recording, scheduling, and other information.
Other menus added from other STV's that were missing from earlier build.
User interface organized to show menu logos next to item selections instead of on the side of the screen.
Fixes:
With new XML menu scheme, the thread for background commercial detection was not being called. The command used to jump to Nielm's XML menu scheme was being done before the comskip thread could be started. This has been fixed.
Seperated the Logos from the main ZIP to keep the ZIP file small.
Any questions or problems? Let me know.... :thumb:

Well.... I had to watch Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis tonight, so the build I intended to upload tonight isn't finished yet....
But, I started tweaking the Music Library menu to *try* to make it an independent entity. This way, you can control the playback of the files, adjust volume, add new tracks to playlists, and the like.....
Here's a teaser pic:

And one with the screen menu extended.....

I love these late nite sessions.... :coffee:
Something will be uploaded on Saturday afternoon EST.

Well.... I had to watch Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis tonight, so the build I intended to upload tonight isn't finished yet.... That's no excuse! You knew they were both 2 part-ers. So you should have just let Sage record them and watch all 4 episodes(2 for each) next friday. Then you could have worked more on your STV.;)
Seriously the pics of the audio library look nice. :goodjob: Can't wait to try it out. I like the fact that your STV has always had a different style than most.
Thanks,

Thanks for the kind words.... ;)
Anticipation is not a good thing for me when SciFi Fridays is on. :jump: The latest I wait is until 8:45 and then I start to watch it with Sage (and Comskip auto-detect turned on in sleep and awake modes). By the time SG1 finishes recording at 9pm, it's recording Atlantis AND starting to comskip SG1. As it finds the commercials midstream, the bottom bar automatically updates and it skips the commercials (even if it's not finished).... :) When I'm done watching SG1, Atlantis is done AND Comskip already ran on it. Comskip is a wonderful thing! :)
Now, I'm uploading what I have done so far. This way, I can watch SG1 again and take a break.

Bug fixes:
LiveTV OSD (not Media Player) would go into an endless loop if a media file (MP3, M4A, or other non-video file was found)...... fixed.
Menu configuration (to add new menu items, etc.) used to just show numbers and not the actual menu links....... fixed.
Upcoming Recordings would sometimes cause the TV EPG to get corrupted..... This was due to the same variable being used in both menus.... fixed.
Set Comskip updates to be spaced out over a 1 minute interval. Instead of polling it every second which it had been doing, I inserted a new thread to pause for 1 minute and then recheck. If you change the TXT file generated by Comskip and don't see it update right away, it will update within 1 minute. Also, if Comskip is actively running on the file, the updates will also update every 1 minute (and skipping will be active once the update is done each time)
To do list:
-----------
I'm still trying to get the Music Jukebox screen to display *and* play MP4 files and possibly WMA files. It's quite possible, but the system keeps showing them as video files (possibly due to the fact that it has to go through DirectShow).... this will be done first (along with any possible bug fixes)
Sometimes the STV switches from Skinned timebar mode to simple timebar if you jump back without using the Home key. This should be fixed shortly.

Update:
New property added:
"laurenglenn/main_menu_XML_file" is now added and set to "laurenglenn.xml" which is included in the ZIP file.
Fixed occasional bug that would pop up (no pun intended) when using the pop-up menus. Sometimes I would pass a parameter to a subroutine, but since you would not leave the original menu when closing an Options Menu and bringing up another one, it would keep passing the same parameter.... :( Anyway, that has been worked around with a simple instruction... All solutions in life are easier than we think..... :)
Changed automatic Comskip advancing to .25 seconds to make it much smoother.
* When jumping backwards via comskip, automatic comskip advancing is now turned off for 20 seconds and then returned to its original state. This would prevent having the system automatically jump itself forwards.
Sluggish menu response that comes after closing a video file has been reduced.
As always, please let me know what you think or if there are any bug fixes (or questions too....)
Thanks!

I am a newbie to this. I unzipped the files to the frey\sagetv directory but nothing changed. Do I need to unzip it to another directory and after that do I need to do something?

Try to see if the file was unzipped with "Preserve Folder name" or something to that effect.
Some STVs allow for you to switch STVs on the fly from the Detailed Setup menu. I haven't had too much success with that, but then, I guess I'm biased and I use my own quite a bit. :)
There is an update coming soon. I've been making a few minor changes here and there with maybe a minor fix or two.... Just so you all know, I've been working reallllly long hours at the IRS processing tax returns. The shifts are getting back to normal and I should be able to post an update soon enough.
The work on the music player has been delayed for a bit and I hope to pick up with that again. I've seen people asking for an AAC player and Sage *does* play those (if you're playing one via the Library Import screen and you go to my music page, the display will show it there). Now, all that's left to do is to clean up the interface some more and have it parse through all files to get to the music ones (since Sage reports anything that's not MP3 and WAV as a Video file)....
Anyway, let me know if that solution works for you. The STV reads parameters from Sage itself, so it shouldn't matter what directory Sage is installed in. If you loaded the STV in another STV, you might need to exit Sage and restart for it to show. (This used to happen to me with other STVs also....) If that fails, there's always editing the Sage.Properties file when Sage isn't loaded....

New update. The IRS has reduced my hours a bit and now I can post what changes have been made before I go to see Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith...... :corn:
Setting Watched and/or Don't Like on a popup menu would cause CPU usage to go over 90%... This should be fixed now.
Hitting Record in the Upcoming Recordings menu would sometimes cause a Refresh() to fire. This ended up changing the value of a variable back to the first instance of a popup menu causing you to have to search for the original file to change. This has been fixed....
There were quite a few other cosmetic changes and some bug fixes..... Too many little ones here and there. After entering so many 1040's in the IRS, I just didn't have too much time free to catalog them all.... Just so you know that if it happened to me that I fixed it... :)

OK. I loved Revenge of the Sith! :D
Now.... on to the STV.
The STV now uses the "translucent_rendering" property. If you set it to TRUE, transparency and gradient fills should be turned off on all items. If there are any that haven't had it turned off on, please let me know. This will speed up the display for those of us using the xCard plugin, which has to dither the display to 8-bit color.
I took out the background graphic for the same reason listed above. I can't seem to make it conditional in the Sage theme, but I'll keep working on it.
BTW, the Show Logos show up verrrrrry nice with the xCard plugin. :)

New version..... finally! :)
I changed the display of the Recordings menu. If you set the columns to 1, it will split the button in two and give you the show description to the right.
http://download.sage.tv/~laurenglenn/rec0505.jpg
Setting the display to 3 rows and 1 column seems to speed up the display a bit for the xCard plugin. It turns out that the buttons had the show image underneath the color fill for the button. This has been removed to speed up the display. To do this, right-click with the mouse (or hit Options) when on the Recordings screen.
System Information was not being displayed..... fixed.
For those who are using Show Analyzer, copy the ShowAnalyzer.exe file to the Sage directory and rename the file to "comskip.exe" to make it work for now. It would be better to have a setting in the Options menu, which I should have in there when ShowAnalyzer is released to the public.
Option to turn off gradients has been added to the Video Menu settings in Detailed Setup.
*EDIT*: TV Grid was updated to be less curved (which was the style in 1.4, but not too much anymore after seeing other STVs). Gradients were also removed when transparency/gradients were turned off. This results in much quicker performance with xCard. If gradients are turned on, the selected item appears brighter than non-selected items.
Enjoy!

Well.... work on the STV is still alive. I've been adding stuff from the v3 STV that comes with SageTV 3, so when that's released, there will be an update.
There also has been progress with speeding up the display when using the xCard plugin. So, for those of you with the xCard and use this plugin, it will reduce the CPU usage during file playback as well as when the File Properties popup comes up. Usage during playback with the OSD off is actually about 1% on my system instead of the 85% or so it uses up with the current version.
Changes done:
OSD now uses the new UI in the v3 STV for the time scroll bar and the buttons as well. DVD Chapter Fwd & Back still will operate the Comskip jumping as before.
Colors are being changed a bit from Teal to the Gray pattern used in the v3 STV... Let me know if you prefer the Teal instead or if you like the Gray....
The Media Player will be replaced with the version from v3.
A few numerous bug fixes and optimizations (minor ones really)....
Detailed Setup has been completely replaced with the v3 STV's implementation. There were so many additions that it seemed better to replace it all. ---- As a result, Import STV has been added.... :)
Also, I added a dialog box to add new recording qualities. The only cavat is that you'd have to close and restart Sage for it to take effect. It will allow you to select between the 3 sizes, and the MPEG-2 parameters. MPEG-4 should be able to be added fairly easily and should be ready when v3 is.
Because of the beta process, I can't go into all the new features of v3. When it's released, a new version of the STV will be uploaded. :hi:

I went away from the forum for a while and realized that they recently released v3 beta to the forum. There's one small bit of code I want to fix, but I should have my STV loaded by Saturday night. The v3 STV's options are changing for the better and I want to include some of that in there as well.....

Maybe it's me, I am fairly new to SageTV and I never tried to use a customized STV before. But after I unzipped the laurenglenn.zip archive into my C/...STVs/OriginalV2/ folder, and then switched to the laurenglenn.stv, Sage locks-up on a black screen with only the time showing. If I right-click I get a menu asking if I want to save the new menu. Other than that nothing in SageTV works. Am I missing something?

Try unzipping the archive to the same directory as the SageTV.exe file is in and make sure that you archive with the folders included. If that doesn't work, let me know. It sounds like the system is trying to load nielm's Java files, but can't find them.
