Well, been over a month since v2.0 came out. Since then we haven't really heard anything from Frey on... Well... Anything.
I think it would be very nice to give a 'state of the program' update to your loyal customers. Specifically about timing of 'Studio', if nothing else (although there are a number of other things people have been asking for updates on a LOT, too).

Just my 2 cents:
If I was you JasonJoel and others that are waiting on Studio to come out. I would not count on it for some time. I believe that the Frey team is extremely small (2-3 people) and do not have the time to invest in getting the docs ready for others to use before they release Studio.
I further believe that they are using only a few beta testers to but together ideas for them, let the testers spend all there time making the improvements then turn around and implement in there own STV with the ideas that the majority of the users like. Allowing Frey to concentrate on the core improvements.
If they go ahead and deliver Studio, way to many stv's would be available and things would get extremely confusing for them to handle.
This could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your views.
Again, this is just my two cents

Its too bad, but I'm thinking the same, its not going to happen.
The STVs being made offer nice improvments , but I notice its a all or nothing approach.
A multimedia app needs to be modular to allow others to add or improve specific features.
It would be great to choose from PVR modules, people could write TIVO like ones, Dish PVR like ones, etc.
Then others write weather, music, video, game modules etc.
The way it is now with an all or nothing STV and a ever growing properties file is getting messy.

once you get studio, you will be able to take part of malores and part of mlbdudes and combine them with little effort...

I think that remains to be seen -- my guess would be that it depends on how integrated their changes are with the rest of the STV. If each section is designed to stand alone, you could probably mix & match fairly easily. Like anything else, if things are heavily intertwined with the rest of the STV, it may be difficult to separate specific features. We'll have to wait and see...
The forum members seem a little restless about Studio, so it sure would be nice to have some sort of status update for curious minds...

i could go with an update, i am usually the one to post and say "just wait, it'll be out soon enough" but even im going a bit impatient the last few days.
i'd like to know if we're looking at week's or month's left till studio would* be out. is it still in beta status? rc? are you still working on bugs, just finishing docs... etc..
*would, read as could. not necessarly saying "it will be out in weeks/months" but rather... "could be out in weeks/months"

I'm getting a little anxious as well. I love the new look of mlbdude's stv, but I can't give up the functionallity of malore's stv. I want to try to combine the two, but without studio I can't.
I'm not saying I want it right now, but I would like to get a rough idea of when we will (a week, 6 months, when pigs fly).

Hey you should take a look at some of the cool things that lauren is doing
not quite as much modification as the others but his skin is new
and features that neither of them have added
oh and when I the Frey guys when they would release studio after version 2 was released and
the reply from them was that it would be a couple of weeks
that was over a month ago but I am not that worried about it
yet I also feel some info like they did before would be nice

I'm going to have to agrree this time around too. It's been awhile and some news is better than no news at all. Even if it's "Hang in there...jut a little bit longer. We're almost done." Would be nice.

We are working on making the Studio easier for you to share your changes between STV files. As many of you noted, you'd like to take changes from the few new STVs that are floating around now and we would like to make it easier for you to do that so you are not frustrated using the application. Please be patient with us as we work towards making the Studio a much more user friendly product before we release it. When I have a better feel for a timeframe, I'll let everyone know.

We had a discussion of grilling recently & I think someone even mentioned using those specially-built smokers -- I'm sure the food tastes pretty good, but you might be right about those aromatic hydrocarbons not being the best thing for your health.
Oh wait... you don't mean smoking as in tobacco :smokin:, do you?? <shudders> NO, that isn't good at all. :nono: You could at least simply be a couch potato and watch TV all the time while waiting... MUCH better for your health!
