My soon-to-be spouse is right up there with grandparents when it comes to computer ability.

Ok, that's a slight exageration. However, it's fair to say that my mother, a woman who can bareful program a VCR, knows more about computers than my SO. That being the case, I'm dying for Studio. As a Java programmer whose slowly migrating away from his keyboard and into the pointy-hair business, it's my intent to toss off the brain-rotting habit of computer gaming and, instead, make Sage the EMACS of the HTPC world. Why leave Sage? Do it all from your HTPC. :D

For those who know Java, I understand that Sage Studio will allow for invocations of Java classes. Now, I don't believe that this will be an API as much as a "implement this method and we call it using reflection" mechanism. Still, it leaves room for...

integrated e-mail clients
rss readers
web browser (although this is probabaly more painful than it's worth)

Of course, we needn't code these things in Java as .exes can be launched from Sage but Java will probably provide the cleanest interface.

I'm looking for try integrating with some custom components. For example, I would like to move a show, after it has been recorded to a library directory.

When is Studio expected to go into Alpha/Beta/Release? It sounds like it is going to be awesome and have a lot of the things I am wishing v2 had.

If you search the forum, Studio has sounded iminent for almost a year now. In fairness, the STVs that are being released to the public were developed with what seems to be a closed beta of Studio.

The annoying thing about Studio is that its like the Matrix. Most of the seemingly small number of people who know exactly what it is won't let slip very many details at all.
