I tried to test the client version but don't seem to be able connect properly to the server. I installed beta version 1.34 and set up as a server on a system with a PVR250. On my client system I installed client version 1.34. After startup of the program I enter in IP address 192.***.*.*** but the client never seems to connect to the server. Sage Guide comes up after 4-5 min without info and libary is empty. Im wondering If internet security software ie: Zonealarm or Windows XP firewall is creating problems. I also enabled sharing of the frey Tech directory which I don't believe needs to be done. Either way my clients not seeing the server. Are there other basic setup instructions I need to be aware of.

Did you enable the server within SageTV in Detailed Setup?

I enabled server in the properties settings to :true, but saw that it was enabled in the detailed setup as well.

Stupid question, but did you quit out of SageTV and reload it after enabling the Server component? Sounds like you did though...

First time I enabled the server I tried it without quitting/restarting SageTV and it didn't work (stupid me)...

Yes I did restart Sage and also the computers, Server and client. While searching in the forms I did run across a similar problem same symptoms someone was having.

I've noticed quite large sagetvclient_*.txt files. Don't know if this is a server or client setup problem.

One of those people had their problem fixed with the latest build, ther other ending up isolating it to a problem with one of the switches on their network.

If you send me the sagetvclient log file, I can tell you more (they compress quite nicely)

I downloaded 1.35 and installed the server and client versions and had the same problem except that this version wouldn’t let me get past entering the IP address of the Sage Server. It wasn’t able to find the server. I shutdown Zone Alarm on both systems and still no success. I then noticed that on the server machine, which runs Windows XP home edition that the firewall was enabled on the network connector. It must have been enabled by default because I really didn’t need it. Anyways disabling firewall protection on the server fixed the problem and the client was able to find the server.:D
