Hi all, new to sage TV and I think I'm going to use it as my main client. Hopefully it'll be easier to set up then the other front end options out there. One question though.

Is anyone out there working on a email and browsing plugin feature? I'd really like to see this added to Sage as an option. One thing that would be really cool is to have a PIP window so the TV can still be on in the background. Just a thought. Is anyone working on this feature?

If and when I get my hands on Studio, this and an RSS client would be the near the top of my list to work on. It's quite possible that an open source browser, e-mail app, or RSS aggregator, could be integrated into Sage and given a front end through Studio. Of course, it would be nice if I had Studio so that I could get started....

Television email / web browsing doesn't work as great as you would think. I used to have a DreamCast that could browse the web, and the text was so blurry and unreadable it made it pointless to use for anything other than downloading porn.

I think for reading text messages it would work great. I don't need to see images or attachments, just the text in the message and be able to do a quick reply if I needed to from the user interface.

The text would be nothing more/or less then what you see right now in the program guide and menus now.

I think it would work great.

Firefox works well enough for me on my 43" HD at 780p (?). I just bump up the font sizes a little and I'm good to go.

IMHO, Opera is better than Firefox for zooming web pages -- it zooms images and layout as well as font sizes, and can override the web page colors with a high contrast mode for clarity -- see this post for some screenshots (http://forums.freytechnologies.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=48508#post48508)

myHTPC.net (http://myhtpc.net/pub/simpleBrowser/) has a simple web browser plugin that appears to be based on IE. It also has a zoom function for those pescy small fonts that won't resize. Anyone here know enough to create a similar plugin?

Interesting. Perhaps I'll give Opera a go as well.
