Hi... just registered and am enjoying exploring the software. SageTV looks like it has tons of potential, but coming from using two Tivos, there are some things that I think would help turn a great product into a perfect product.

1. Multi-speed ff/rw: Press once to go 3x, press twice for 30x, press three times for 60x, etc.

2. Variable skip-back after ff/rw: If going 3x ff/rw go back xx seconds, if going 30x ff/rw go back xxx seconds, if going 60x ff/rw go back xxxx seconds.

3. Variable recording qualities by favorite: There are some shows I would rather record at a lower quality (talk shows) than my action shows to save space.

1&2 go together, this'll be done at some point in the future, it's not easy because we support various cards, I explain why in another thread somewhere....

3 - you can already do this, just go to the Favorites Manager and change the recording quality for any of your favorites

Thanks for the quick reply. I can see I need to continue to do some more exploring.

For now, what is the best way to ff/rw? I currently have the keys mapped to my ATI Remote but have to press the button repeatedly to jump forward in 2 second increments. It's very awkward to skip through commercials, I have to press the button 100+ times. Thank you.

Time scroll is what I use. I have mapped "time scroll" to the Stop button on my remote. To skip a commercial I press stop, press skip forward 3 (or something) times, then stop again, and finetune with the 10 second jumps. Once you get used to it, it rocks.

You can also change the time increment in the sage properties file. Just make sure you edit this when SageTV isn't running. I set my ff time to 29sec and rew time to 10sec.

Yeah, I did the same thing.

Changed FF time to 30 seconds, RW to 10 seconds in the properties file. Works perfectly for my needs.
