I get the following message when I try accessing a library file via the sageTV Client:

Mpeg2Video Error
There was an error with the MPEG-2 video setup.
Please consult the log file and report the error.
Failed connecting video stream to the Overlay Mixer

I get the audio of the file but no video.

I've included the client log file and properties files.

Any ideas,

Cheers,

Billy:goodjob:

Just wondering did you even install DVD or MPEG2 codec like PowerDVD WinDVD etc, etc?.

I'm getting this same issue on my Sage TV Client v1.3.8 which is installed on a Sony Vaio laptop PCG-FX170, running XP Pro. PowerDVD is installed on this computer. Should that be removed?

And you all have selected the Video decoder that you DO have installed in the Detailed Setup\Video?

Try selecting Default instead of Overlay for the Video Renderer. That quite often fixes this error.

I tried all the decoders and that didn't work. :(

I installed the Elecard Decoder which did work, but the video is horrible as it just skips like crazy. :(

I tried changing the overlay to default and that didn't work either. :(

Oh well, I guess that laptop will just have to play pre-recorded items through Windows Media Player. :rolleyes2

Regardless, I'm amazed at the quick response and how well this software has worked over this past week. You've just earned a customer! I purchased both SageTV and SageTV Client (for my other laptop).

Now should I even think about trying out the Beta software? :D

So you are saying you installed all video decoders? It sounds like you did install the Elecard decoders, which other ones did you install?

Elecard decoders are not my favorite either, but they are not supposed to be that bad. What is your CPU load when playing back video?

I didn't install all video decoders... I just tried all the options in the drop down list. Most came up with an error along the lines that the decoder couldn't be found / wasn't installed. Others would just come up with unable to connect to the Overlay Mixer.

When I saw this post yesterday, I tried to test the Elecard Decoder again, but it didn't work. However, I had to do something else so I couldn't get back to testing this again.. and I won't be able to until I get back home this weekend... thus my need for Sage TV. :D

The video decoders in that list will only work if you install them yourself. It is a bug in the latest release version of SageTV that makes them all display whether you have them installed or now. For the main computer with SageTV installed make sure you install the Intervideo decoder from Hauppauge. That one works well. Once you get that installed and configured with Sage, let us know what your CPU usage is during playback.

If the MPEG2 files playback OK in WMP, then just look at the File->Properties while you're playing them back. It lists the decoder's its using. Then you can set Sage's to be the same as those.
