Hi there.

So I'm not sure what's going on but I am having the worst time getting SageTV to run in a stable manner. I am using the latest version (1.3).

It locks up my entire system after 30+ minutes of continuous use. After it locks up I have to reconfigure everything as if the sage.properties files have been deleted/reset.

I have tried different RAM modules, different hard drives, updating windows xp home via windowsupdate, updating the Hauppage drivers, and changing the record quality settings.

I have a duron 1ghz, xp home, 256mb ram, hauppage 250 and a 20 gig harddrive (yes I know this is small, but i have the same issue with a 60 and 80gig too).

Any help or pointers would be great.

What are the CPU temps when it locks up. Does it lock up when it is just in sleep mode or only when you are watching something (which uses more CPU processing and therefore more prone to heat problems)?

Does your motherboard use a VIA chipset by any chance? Then try the latest VIA Hyperion 4in1 drivers. That might solve it, it did for me. If that doesn't help, you should try to replace the powersupply and see if that helps. I find that most flaky computers usually are because of the power supply, RAM or cooling.

Ok, I got it to lock up again :(
I had to reset it and here are the temps. I'm not sure if this is normal or not..
cpu: 44C (111F) cpu
system: 38C (100F)

Also, I do have a VIA chipset. Do you know the latest driver version? I'm downloading VIA Hyperion 4in1 Driver v4.47 as we type.

I've had simular issues, or at least I think. Sage client seems to lock up but it just seems to go out to space for a minute or so. It eventually comes back and works okay. Only does that now and again.

The only time I've had sage client lock up permantly is when I attempt to watch anything but a .mpg file on one particular machine. I've got others that divx and avi's seem to run fine. I just attributed it to a clash of codecs or something.

Ok, I just tried the VIA Hyperion 4in1 Driver v4.47 to no avail.
Can anyone tell me if

cpu: 44C (111F)
system: 38C (100F)

Is to hot for my computer?

The wierd thing about all this is, I can run DVD's and WinTV 2000 for ever.
Its just SaveTV that hoses it up.

No, those temps are fine. Not sure what else to suggest (other than reformating and reinstalling the OS and all apps). The fact that Sage works for a while before locking up sounds like a hardware problem, but I have no idea what it could be. Any chance you are overclocking your CPU?

Nope, not overclocking.
I'm gonna try the powersupply and then a new motherboard I guess.

Oh. I have a PCI video card. An old gForce2. I can try an AGP card too I guess.
