Before I go gambling away my reasonably stable Sage install over this, does this provide out of the box support for multiple USB-UIRT (or other IR blasters) for those of us too lazy to set up zone support USB-UIRT zone support?

Is there any way to get more detail, above that in the Release Notes, without blowing away a perfectly good 2.0.20 install and installing the beta?

From Opus' very awesome manual (v2.1):

Sage TV only supports *ONE* USB-UIRT, and does not natively support the multiple zone function of the USB-UIRT.

Sorry.

It can use multiple Actisys IR-200L's though.

I had a reply all set up & then saw that the question was already answered! :goodjob:

I just realized that I'll bet you have to install 2.1 before you get to look at the updated manual.

Yeah, really need a place to D/L the v2.1 manual without D/Ling the software.

RE: Guide, This is what I'm saying.

So how about a hetergenious environment? Say an Actisys and a USB-UIRT on the same Sage box working two different cable boxes?

Bump? Anyone?

I have 2.1 working with USB UIRT ( Using 3 Zones ) and 1 Actisys IR Blaster. From the manual it appears you could have multiple Actisys IR Blasters as long as you had COM ports to support them. NOTE: I tried using a USB to serial device and it did not provide enough power to transmit the IR even though the software said it sent them successfully.

Even in 2.0.20 there is a bug for me with USB Uirt Multiple Zone and Jeff is currently investigating this. Also the Actisys IR Blaster causing a high CPU condition on resume from sleep, but Jeff is also investigating this.

For the time being I can use both as long as I use SageTV as an application and use SageWake to restart SageTV on resume. Also to avoid the USB UIRT Multiple Zone bug I have to make sure that all 3 USB UIRT Tuners do not start at the same time. Not a problem for me since I pad all my shows and I just have to make sure that on the days that I have all 3 start at once one is started 1 minute earlier than the others.

I am confident that Jeff can resolve both of these issues, but for the time being I am pleased with SageTV 2.1 Since I no longer have to use a network encoder to use my Actisys.

Thanks, jptaz.

I wonder, does 2.0.20 support an Actisys coexisting with a USB-UIRT already? I probably ought to be posting this to the Sage TV Software forum as it's not specific to the beta but as I already have this thread open...

sleight42,

I can guarantee that it does not work that way in 2.0.20. I tried this when I got my USB UIRT. I was hoping it did, but it would only let you configure one device type, eiter a USB UIRT or an Actisys. When you setup the second one it would then assume that you meant to replace the device for all sources. In fact 2.0.20 did not even support multiple Actisys IR blasters. I bought the USB UIRT with zone support so I could go from have 3 Network Encoders and SageTV to SageTV and 1 network encoder.

As an aside ... it can now support multiple Actisys devices because each one is on a separate COM port. From what I understand, multiple USB-UIRTs are not supported since it can't tell the difference between them. But, at least the USB-UIRT has multiple zones anyway.
