The UI is intended for the general public use and is a contribution to the SageTV community. Any changes can be made as required, however the SageTV logo must remain unchanged on the home page. The logo on the top left of each page can be removed.

Installation Instructions

1) The content of the XMZV2.x.x.x.zip file must be installed into the following path:
...\STVs\XMZV2 For example: C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageTV\STVs\XMZV2

2) The content of the JavaR1.zip file must be installed into your Java library extensions
directory (i.e. C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\lib\ext)

3) The content of the SageTVCoreR2b.zip file must be installed into your main SageTV
directory. Please make sure nested folders get extracted correctly.

4) Within SageTV, select the XMZVx.x.x.x.stv file from the Advanced Setup Menu,
and then restart SageTV.

TO ENABLE CLOSED CAPTION SUPPORT (Instructions provided by Cayar, thanks)
You must be using a Hauppauge PVR250/350 card (the Roslyns, blackbird & PVR-USB2 cards do not work). You must be using a driver version (1.7 and up) that supports imbedding CC into the recording. You must have enabled the CCinDVD registry key. For driver versions below 1.18.016.22092 you can use this reg (http://www.shspvr.com/graph_build/download/insertccindvdonoff.zip) file . For driver versions after 1.18.016.22092, see this site (http://www.cask-of-amontillado.com/pvr_reg.html#_Enable_Closed_Captioning) for directions on adding the correct setting to your registry. You have to reboot your computer the first time you enable the CCinDVD key for it to take effect. The recording quality used must be a DVD style profile and of course the show must actually have CC.

Well it looks very nice on my 20" LCD using the client, but is unreadable for the most part on my 35" SDTV. The menu text looks OK, but the guides, OSD, etc are way to small. Is there an obvious way to increase the text size?

This may be a dumb question, but where can i get the wrs java classes. When i tried to open the weather panel, it said it failed to load them. I think it said something like that on the imdb search as well. I think the version of java that i am using is 1.4.2.04.

I really do like the concept behind the layout. For me, a couple things I would like to see are: 1) IMD lookup on each detail page (that passes the info automatically like in Cayars STV), 2) Commercial Skip. These two are BIG features to have in my opinion. Other things that I think would be nice are: a) constant TV/Video window position, b) constant toolbar buttons more in line with MCE (like the start page for SageMC but with news and weather).

I don't know if that's the kind of feedback you were looking for.... I hope it helps though.

So that would be my #1 vote.

My #2 vote would be to have shows in the MOVIE category auto group in the recordings view, even though you don't have group by category selected.

Malore's view did this, and for those of us that record a lot of movies it is a GOD SEND.

I like to group by title normally. But then I have 20-40 separate entries in my list. YUCK. In Malore's you can group by title, but then movies are still grouped together in one folder. VERY handy.

Ok... Thanks for adding COMSKIP support. Playback works great, haven't had a chance to see if it kicks off the creation yet though.

Some bugs:
1. If I hit OPTION during playback it pops up the options menu, but there is no highlighting to show which item is selected. At all. If I move the cursor up/down and hit OK it selects correctly, so it is actually moving. There is just no indication of what is selected.

2. (edit 2: Ok, changing the number of rows fixed it on the 'default' recordings view. But it does not fix it on the "categorized view" as the pane on the right side did not change. It still has 8 or so rown and the text gets cut off if the recording has both a title and an episode name). (edit: nevermind, I see this in the Setup. I'll try adjusting this to see if it helps) The font looks too big in both the default recordings view as well as the categorized view. The two lines of text run into each other and are partially cut off. Can this be changed?

3. Would be nice to be able to play a file from the recordings listing without having to go into the shows detail page. Like maybe if you hit PLAY on a recording while in the recordings view it would go straight to playing it. Instead of having to select show, then select WATCH NOW from the recording detail page.

4. When I go into a folder from the recordings view, the small pane on the right says "Space Disk Info" then nothing below it. And then lower says "Video Content: 0 minutes" which isn't right.

5. Would be nice if option to NEVER show preview video window was set to stretch the top window of the "My TV Recordings" page all the way across the screen. As it is now that right side where the preview video window goes is wasted space (as I can't use the preview video on the Media MVP client). This should be changed on the Program Guide screen as well. Well, actually anywhere you purposely did not use that upper right corner because of the preview window placement.

6. No way to remove the Play DVD option from Main Menu, as far as I can see. I looked through the setup options but did not see it.

That is a start. I'll report more as I find them.

1. If you change the number of rows in the recordings view to 5, then go into a folder for a title that has multiple recordings, the white/light gray rounded rectangle border for the show does not size right. On the left side it ends right before the show title on my machine.

2. on the recording detail screen (the one you get to when you press OK on a recording) why is the pane on the left scrollable when there is open space below it. It should be stretched down, then all of the menu options would appear without scrolling.

3. Would be nice if there wan an icon or other indication in the recordings listing as to whether or not COMSKIP is available for that file or not.

4. Would be nice to have a way to force COMSKIP of a file if there is no COMSKIP txt file generated for it yet. Maybe from the recording detail screen as a menu option on the left.

5. Much like Cayar did, should put wshat the default number is for a setup option in parenthesis in the setting description. Like "Menu Heading Text Size (20)"

6. Would be nice if the "upcoming recordings" pane int the "My TV" view would go all the way to the right side of the screen. On my machine it takes the left side of the screen and the right half on that row is empty...

VERY important bug/issue. When I get to the end of a recording it just stops at a black screen. I then have to hit STOP or HOME, etc to get back to a menu.

This is with the option: "Prompt for deletion when show is finished" set to DISABLED. And if it is ENABLED I get the menu, and if I select CANCEL it still just sits there at the last frame of the video.

It should automatically return to the screen you came from (recording detail as currently programmed or recording list if you add option to play files without having to go into the recording detail page).

Cayar's STV does this as well (up through version 15). He said he is changing that behavior for the next version of his STV, too. I think it also causxes a higher frequency of crashes for PVR350 users.

You need play with the Text Size and number of row setting in Interface/Plug-in menu

yes, but we need to select the right key as the stop/play/... keys are used for background and embedded video

yes, will put on to do list, but no priority for now. In fact I intend to add a MVP setting that would change/custom many settings at once.

Have not been able to replicate. Please check this again on v2.1.10.6 as made many changes there. Let me know if you still the problem

The space is reserved for a LiveTV window if you enable it in Menu Video Options. But it is a good comment, the menu could extend automatically if there is no active window. Will think about it.

4. Would be nice to have a way to force COMSKIP of a file if there is no COMSKIP txt file generated for it yet. Maybe from the recording detail screen as a menu option on the left.
This is available from the Option menu when you watch a recording, as long as the Comskip OSD option is enabled. But it is a good idea to add the feature in the detailed info menu. will add to do list

Made a few changes in v2.1.10.6 Please see if it works... but still need to work on it

VERY important bug/issue. When I get to the end of a recording it just stops at a black screen. I then have to hit STOP or HOME, etc to get back to a menu.

This is with the option: "Prompt for deletion when show is finished" set to DISABLED. And if it is ENABLED I get the menu, and if I select CANCEL it still just sits there at the last frame of the video.

It should automatically return to the screen you came from (recording detail as currently programmed or recording list if you add option to play files without having to go into the recording detail page).

Cayar's STV does this as well (up through version 15). He said he is changing that behavior for the next version of his STV, too. I think it also causxes a higher frequency of crashes for PVR350 users.

OK, got it. Fixed in the upcoming version. There is a bug in Studio/SageTV, when 3D is disabled SageTV shows a thin line even when a line size equals 0.

Still does it in the latest version. I attached a picture. Specifically look at the following recordings:

This was ready in the STV, but not enabled everywhere. It is now enabled and availabe from the Interface/Plug-in menu. Please note that some screen may need a SageTV restarts to display a font size change.

No matter what I have the recordings view preference set to, pressing my remote button ALWAYS goes to the 'default recordings' view.

Is there any way to either:
1. Change the behavior so that the SageTV Recordings command would go to the screen you specified a preference for in the interface setup

or

2. Make a new SageTV command that I can link to the remote control button that would take me directly to the 'categorized recordings' or 'malore' recordings screen

There is still a problem with files when they reach the end of their recording.

On my system when I reach the end of a recording the screen just goes black. It does not go to a menu, nothing. Just sits there.

Have to hit a remote key to navigate out (like HOME or STOP).

This is helpful...but I would like to also go directly to the full TV Guide screen via remote. Currently this takes me about 4 commands to get to it. Any ideas since your STV is the one that determines what it does when the "Guide" command. Thanks.

In your latest version I noticed today that "My Video Library" is pulling it's property value or video directory from the SageClient.properties file "seeker/archive_directory=". I am not using the client and therefore the updates via the Setup in this STV are updating Sage.properties. So I updated this property manually in the SageClient.properties file and now all is well.

Additionally the "My Archived Shows" does not navigate to anything. I am wondering if that is related or at least related to a property value issue. Thanks for the effort on this.

First let me say that the SageTV community thanks you for your efforts. Wonderful job to put it lightly!

I would be more than happy to test the PCC, but I think I need a brief ramp up on its basic features in order to. PM me if you want.

Lastly, it seems the community could have a dedicated developer on each section of the customized STV areas music / videos / TV / comskip / pictures / custom plugins etc. I really have noticed the lacking functionality with the out of box SageTV Music player functionality as of late, and management of songs/playlists. I know the studio is locked up tightly, so what to do except keep praising the efforts of those like yourself...but let me know if I can help in any way. Thanks!

COMSKIP Delete: I noticed in your STV when deleting a recorded show that COMSKIP had already processed...a *.CCYES or *.CCNO, *.TXT, *.Log, and *.VPrj are left in the video directory of Sage.

So is this something that each STV would have to manage cleaning up on delete or should I direct this toward one or more COMSKIP developers in the Sage forums? Thanks.

Feature Request: It seems that it would be more user friendly in numerous places to have the "play" remote button play a file immediately.

1) Archived Shows: From within the TV archived shows clicking play I would think would play the file immediately. Currently we have to press "enter" on the remote, choose "Watch Now" and then it plays.

2) TV Recordings: Same thing as number 1.

When I choose play I am pretty sure that is what I want so it would seem logical that is what it should do. Right now Play does nothing in any of these situations. Just a thought and not sure if this would apply to all STV's or something that should be requested at the SageTV genearl feature level. Regardless I am up for making MCEXCON the best out there in regard to its UI. Thanks!

Feature Request: Add DVD burning capability from within this STV. I reviewed Cayar's DVDBurner bit in his thread here (http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=9442). One of the best features it has is the ability to utilize the Comskip data when burning. Anyway you might be able to link in what he has already done in a future release.

COMSKIP Delete: I noticed in your STV when deleting a recorded show that COMSKIP had already processed...a *.CCYES or *.CCNO, *.TXT, *.Log, and *.VPrj are left in the video directory of Sage.

So is this something that each STV would have to manage cleaning up on delete or should I direct this toward one or more COMSKIP developers in the Sage forums? Thanks.

You can use the "Delete Orphans" feature in My TV/Utilities

#1 does anyone have a menu.xml file for this stv? I imported the stv that allows right click editing of the main menu but it gets messed up with the default menu.xml file.

#2 None of the icons load with the wether modules. Rightnow im using hte weather report suite and no icons show only the weather info.

#1 This STV doesn't feature a menu.xml

#2 you must have a problem with your Weather module installation. Check your module is installed in the directory indicated in the installation instructions.

Feature Request: It seems that it would be more user friendly in numerous places to have the "play" remote button play a file immediately.

1) Archived Shows: From within the TV archived shows clicking play I would think would play the file immediately. Currently we have to press "enter" on the remote, choose "Watch Now" and then it plays.

2) TV Recordings: Same thing as number 1.

Great request: I added that to the priority list. Another feature I'm thinking about is a DVD library for offline DVDs (combined with online DVDs)

I have loaded and unloaded every STV so far, and I have to say that I think this has the best interface so far. Even my wife is impressed with this, and she normally thinks anything but Tivo is evil!

3. Would be nice to be able to play a file from the recordings listing without having to go into the shows detail page. Like maybe if you hit PLAY on a recording while in the recordings view it would go straight to playing it. Instead of having to select show, then select WATCH NOW from the recording detail page.

yes, but we need to select the right key as the stop/play/... keys are used for background and embedded video

I agree with JasonJoel's assessment but MCEXCON is right about choosing the correct key. I like the way it is set up in the Maldude2 STV, while using the Malore configuration: if you hit "OK" (which is mapped to the "Enter" key which is in turn mapped to "Select" in sage by default) it starts playing the 1) if on a show group the first entry of that group or 2) if on a specific recording of a show that recording.

This is the way it works in "Recordings a la Malore" in MCEXCON but I find your "Categorized Recordings" more appealing to the eye. Basically the difference is having to go into the recording details and click "Watch Now" which is an unneeded extra step. If you want to access the recording details you could do so as in Malore with the right arrow. Just my 2 cents.

BTW great job on this STV, It should have been included in the list for the poll IMHO (if for no other reason it seems to be one of the most active besides Cayer's)

I can't get the font right on this one. Changes to the point size are hard to do without dynamic menus. Sometimes, I have to restart and other times I just can't tell. I sure do like the layout of it. Nice looking STV. Can't wait for 3.0.
