Higher Resolution Channel Logos

OK so I recently went through a bad breakup with the girlfriend. Got more time on my hands. Because of this, I have started my own project. To try to create higher resolution channel logos. Logos look good when you see them in the channel guide but once you select a show, you can really see how pixelated they are because Sage shows a larger image of the channel logo. I am including a few I have worked on and thought others might enjoy to use them. I intend to make more but might not depending on how things in my personal life go. Hope you enjoy them!
One side note. These are reproductions of the orginals. I have to do these by hand. They are not exact matches and some of these need more work. I do no support these nor will I be taking requests. This is just something I am doing for myself to help the time go by.

11/21 OK so this is pretty much my own channel lineup. So my work for myself is complete. Am going to take a small break from my work here for a little bit. need some time to go and have some fun for myself. In the mean time...if there are any American channels that arent local channels that I have missed....please let me know. I might or might not get to them.

11/27 OK We got more logos. Included many that were requested (except for the british channels). This update includes some spanish channels for those of you who live in Spanglish land like I do. Take note that I have added some fancy major network logos too so you can use them for local channels that you dont have a logo for. Let me know if I missed anything :)

12/18 Guess I am kinda back from my little break. :clap: Spanky, I have added your Cinemax logos. Other than transparent logos I dont seem to see any requests. Am I done? As I stated, I dont intend to do the transparent logos, I will leave that to Tox if he is still interested. I know in his last post, he had given me the impression that they dont look at neat as they sound because resizing them appears to dirty them up. Regardless, I appreciate his help and efforts. Any new logos I should be doing? Please, no local channels. I could be doing this for the rest of my life if I did that.

2/8 Life has been crazy as of late, but I am loving it. Sorry I havent gotten things done quicker, but I have been a busy guy. Per danward79's request I have added a few UK channel logos. Just a hint, they start with UK in the name. jcato, your requests are up next. I will try to get them up here for you as soon as I can. As always, I am more than willing to take requests as long as they are national network logos. I could spend a lifetime if I tried to do the local guys. Thanks for the support folks :)

6/11/07 I have finally added a few channels and updated some. As far as I can see UPN and WB are neither exisiting neworks. They have been changed To CW and ION. A few others have been added. Hope you all enjoy

As a side note. If you do notice anything wrong that needs to be fixed, let me know. I just cant guarentee I will have time to fix the problem right away or at all. My current goal is to get as many done as possible. Then I will fix as I see fit. :)

Remmy. I've started looking at some of the .cdr files and I must say you are doing a great job reproducing these. If you don't mind I'd like to output these all to eps files so more people can make use of the vector images. If I have some time I'll chip in where I can to create more vector versions. I started doing this some time back and I'll go back to my Illustrator files and see which logos I made were all vector based and start posting stuff. Maybe I'll host these all on my website. Kind of make a free vector channel logo resource or something.

EDIT: I'd actually like to go to WMF instead of EPS for more universal usage.

like I said...on a couple I had to use things like transparency. Dont think wmf or eps actually support such features. I actually intend to add more visual effects once done in photoshop. Just havnt had time. Any suggestions or assistance you would like to provide, feel free. I know this is a usless project with little desire from the community...but I figure what the hell. Why not share my labor so it isnt such a waste of time.

Wanted to answer your question Walker, but I am not completely sure about an answer. I suspect CSPAN2 3 4 are probably regional feeds. I am on the east coast so I get feed 3. Not entirely sure on that. Once I have completed as many of these as I can for myself I will probably consider taking requests. Depending on the complexity of the design or precision of the logo...it could take me a few hours to complete just one channel. Be patient with me guys. I will try my best to get as many of these as I can.

opps....forgot to mention. Not all my channel designations will match up with yours. In the instance mentioned prior about CSPAN, I would suggest just taking my generic logo for CSPAN and using it for both CSPAN channels for now. Just make a copy of the jpeg file and rename it. I will consider a request thread for the channels I miss once I get the ones done I am working on now.

I will consider that as an option after I finish the channels I got...to be honest...once the template is set as a vector image...I can easily extract what you want and will make one. I have high res generic networks logos on my machine at work. I'll generate some on Monday the same size as remmy's files. In the mean time enjoy these somewhat lower res high res logos of those channels.

Had problems uploading. Problem resolved. New channel logos are added. Had to split them into two halves. Just download both raster zip files and unpack into the channellogos directory.

I also plan to add generic logos for the major broadcast networks. I know i probably need UPN, CBS, NBC, PBS, ABC. Any others you guys can think of? Remmy, after looking at some of your logos I realized, you're from Tampa too!

This was perfect since you got all of the local logos for me. The only one that was missing was NBC(WFLA I think). I took one of the low res NBCs and renamed it for that channel.

Here are some other ones I downloaded that were in my lineup but not in your files. Most of these are low res from saglogo.com. I also found a pretty nice one on another sight for BayNews9.

Well rsagetv99, I got good news for ya then. I am almost done with all the local channels as well as the high channel lineup for Tampa. Of course everyone benefits from that too. So if you have some patience with me....you will get your full lineup for Sage TV. Tox Mox was nice enough to make some standard network logos as well...if there is a local channel that meets one of those networks....you can always use his. As far as UK logos...when I finish the logos for my own lineup I will consider taking requests. I might just do some major UK logos if I get the time. Like I have said before...this gets a little time intensive...i actually have to make these from scratch.

Actually....I figured I would have fun with them. Tox already made some that were just fine...the generic network logos I made were just for fun. I would take any suggestions too if I am missing any major networks or channels that Just have to be added for the general public. If you noticed, in this release I tried to add every request I have had so far except the UK channels. I will consider doing those soon. I'm also thinking of creating some pictures to go with the menus in my stv...make them look a little more uniform. Still not sure if that is something I wanna get too wrapped up into.

I will look into the Showtime logos and Cinemax logos. I will see what i can do...right now i am slowing down my work a little bit since it is the holidays and I need a break. (just a little one). As far as translucent images, I am not sure that can be done. Images used for channel logos are jpeg images. JPG format doesnt support transparency. These images would have to be changed to PNG or GIF. GIF is small but color is limited so you would probably want to set up logos with a PNG format. I suspect that if you change the format of the images, Sage will no longer recognize them. If someone important enough to know an answer is seeing this, let me know!

I just tested this and I deleted my WABC.jpg logo and replaced it with a transparent png of something else and saved as WABC.png and it worked.

Per "Appendix B: Adding Channel Logos" in the manual, logos can be JPEG, GIF, or PNG.

Mentioned elsewhere & in the properties file are these extensions for images: .jpg,.gif,.jpeg,.jpe,.png

I just tried a transparent png file for animal planet, and worked fine. The only problem i have is that it took quite a bit of touching up to get rid of the jaggies and other artifacts from the jpg files to make it look smooth.

Are there any non compressed versions of these logos out there?

I will look into some of those for you. I have to admit...I have been kind of slow lately because I have had a lot of my plate lately. Look carefully in the Zip file I have provided for you. I notice a few stations you have like PAX, Univision, Telemundo, and Fox Sports should be in there. The names may not match up with your listings you you may have to rename the files. I will try to figure out which ones i have not dont yet and try to complete them as time permits. (Sorry, been busy having fun living life as a single guy :D)

Oops, you're right. I missed PAX, Univision, and Telemundo. And I edited the Fox Sports Florida to be just Fox Sports. I'm pretty sure the rest aren't in there, though.

Actually, this project was started because I didnt like logos satlogo provided so I decided to make my own that would look much better when enlarged. As you can see...there are tons of national and local stations its provides....thus why I only choose to do nationaly televised network logos. It would take me a lifetime to do them all. Its a great place to get your local stations though! :) If ya know any national logos I might be missing, feel free to make a request.

This would cover most if not all of the channels people get. There aren't really local channels in the UK like there are in the US. The only channel that follows the network model that US viewers are used to is ITV.

I'm not sure if these are as high quality as remmy's, but here you go.

You're right about it being a PITA doing it manually. However it's a very nice resource that allowed me to fill in a couple holes I had in my channel logos.

What size should the channel logos be so that they look good in all the places that they show up in: guide, show info (larger), current show (medium).

Can you use more than one size for each channel? If so what is the naming convention to achieve this? (I read something about this in another post but no specs).

It's been a while since I have found the need to update my channel logos. That being said, maybe I am missing some popular national channels that need to be added. Anything I am lacking that needs to be added here? Keep in mind I live in the US. Doing channel logos for countries like Germany may be an interesting project but one I myself wouldnt get a benefit from. Anyone see where I have missed the mark and need to fix things?
