I need help. A while ago I installed nielm's STV and after installing it, the response time for Sage starting being really slow. What happens is after watching tv for about 5-10 mins, and then I press a button on my remote it takes a really long time for Sage to respond. Once I do get it to respond things work fine, but then after about 5-10 more minutes of no button pressing it all happens again.

I'm thinking of doing a clean install, but I wanted to know what happens to all the shows I have on my hd when I do this? Will I lose all of my shows or will Sage 2.1 repopulate them?

Thanks.

You have to keep wiz.bin in order to retain your existing recording info in SageTV, but the recordings are not removed regardless.

Do you have Norton AntiVirus running? (Perhaps other AV?) If so, try exclusing the SageTV and the video dirs from the auto scan for NAV. (At least make sure the mpg dirs are excluded.)

Interesting, I do have Norton running, so maybe I'll try turning it off for Sage dirs. What are the differences between 2.0 and 2.1?

Turn auto scan off for the video dirs too, not just the SageTV dir -- I believe it is scanning the videos as they are playing.

For a list of most of the new stuf in v2.1, see chapter 8 in the updated manual.

and then I press a button on my remote it takes a really long time for Sage to respond.A "long time" is subjective. Sometimes I get a hesitation of a few seconds, and I consider that a long time. It doesn't happen often, so it's not a big deal to me. Some would consider a few minutes a long time. That would be annoying, but your post doesn't specify how long.

It is a very long time, sometimes it is over a minute before Sage will respond to button presses on my remote. I'm going to try the deactivating norton and see if it helps. I would definitely not complain too much over a few second hesitation. Sometimes, though, when switching recordings I can be waiting for a few minutes before the file plays which leads me to believe that it is the anti-virus software kicking in.
