Not sure if this is an STV issue or Sage 2.1 issue. Probably every other day, the GUI completely freezes while watching a show. Not even trying to fast forward. Only way to recover is to Sleep Sage and bring back. That works most of the time, but sometimes I have to kill Sage.exe completely. Problem exists running Sage as service and not as a service.

Anyone else seeing this and do you think it is due to STV bug or base 2.1?

Same Here. But it's getting better....

Try making sure ComSkip is disabled and make sure it's not processing any files. Some other people have noticed issues with long pauses and such with ComSkip running.

If this doesn't fix the issue, try switching back to OriginalV2 and see if the probelm goes away. This might not be a bad idea as a starting point to see if it's STV related on a core issue.

i just enabled the play_nice_Start and play_nice_End features in teh comskip.ini file. This has helped me immensely with the CPU getting bogged down. If you set those options to times that you're most likely watching TV, comskip only uses roughyl 25-40% of CPU (on my computer at least) ad does get to the 70-80% range. I bet that causes a lot of freezing, depending on the CPU.

I also found that the "What to do?" at the end of a show was causing me a lot of headaches.
(And reboots). I switched this off and everything got a lot faster )and no EOF problems with the 350.

redman, what did you have to do to switch off the "What to do" and get it working?

In the Detailed setup - Interface Options - OSD Options - Prompt for Deletion when show Finishes.

If I select this to disabled, then I don't get the EOF error. But you have to hit 'menu' to get back to the menu screen, otherwise it just stays on the flickersing frozen last frame of the show you were watching.

If you play a file to the end even with the OriginalV2.stv you will find that same odd behaviour. That is, just sits there frozen on the last frame until you navigate off or use Options and Close (and then it will return to a menu).

BTW, if that last frame happens to be a fade to black, some people may think that SageTV has locked up, but really it hasn't. Just sitting on a black frame waiting for someone to close the file.

SageTV v2.0 did not behave this way, it went right back to a menu at the end of a file. I reported this as a bug way back in the early v2.1 beta releases, but did not get a reply. It's still the same in the current v2.2 beta also.

Send in those bug reports people! Maybe if more of you others report these things Frey will actually fix them (seems like they're not paying much attention to just me reporting things).

I put back the OriginalV2 behavior in version 16 with or without the delete at end of show.
