Is there a way to tell sage to save the mpg's out in a specific naming convention format?

Like "ShowName-Episode#.mpg"
I have shows that I am trying to group together in another program, but the names of the shows are like this:

SaturdayNightLive-32832-0.mpg.
SaturdayNightLive-38563-0.mpg.
JimmyKimmelLive-48930-0.mpg

Which Is Fine...BUT

Then I have shows like:
JoeyJoeyAndTheBigAudition-3357342-0.mpg
JoeyJoeyAndTheRoadTrip-3357342-0.mpg

Which are harder to group. Is this something I can change in sage for naming the recording?

Thanks

You could try setting the use_episodes_in_filenames property to false. I haven't tried using this, so I'm not 100% sure it is what you are looking for.

As far as there being no hyphen between the title and episode name I believe this is fixed as of 2.2.1

what does that number at the end mean? is it from frey or zap2it?

i know that last hyphen -0,-1 etc is if it has to break up the recordings.

it would be great to be able to look up metadata on show info for these recordings outside of sage.

Only some have the episode at all.
Most are just Name-12345-0.mpg and it doesn't give the episode (whis is annoying because then you don't know which ones which). What are the numbers assoc. with the mpg's?

I'm guessing that the multi-digit number is probably a database link to the airing.

And, not all shows have distinct episodes and/or episode titles, so they wouldn't be part of the filename if they aren't there.

if its a database link to a zap2it database. It would be cool if we could use it to look up information on the zap2it website. Like a web parsing script.

I'm not sure I know what your talking about but I'll stick my 2 cents in anyway. Could it be the actual episode number you're seeing?

No -- go to the Recording Detail screen & you can see the filename & show ID. They are not the same. I really think it is the DB ID so that SageTV can track airing info per recording. (You can actually have teh smae show recorded at multiple times with Manual Recordings.)

Well here is something intersting.
I just installed the webserver (Thank You Very Mush For That Nielm!)
and if I select a recorded file it shows all kinds of info.
Example:

Wife Swap
Episiode: Aguirre/Ray

Aired: Dec 8, 2004 7:02 PM - 8:00 PM

Duration: 58 m

Channel: 386-WABC

Description: A freewheeling, punk-rock mother of three trades families and homes with a conservative, old-fashioned Southern mom.

Category: Reality

Closed Captioned, Stereo

Language: English

Show ID: EP6643200013

Executive Producer: Michael Davies, Stephen Lambert, Jenny Crowther

Files:
F:\Videos\Recordings\WifeSwap-AguirreRay-340943-0.mpg

Size: 2.92Gb

Is any of this information available for renaming the file, getting descriptions etc.. It would be awsome if, when the recording finished, Sage renamed the file with {Title}-{Episode} or {Title}-{ShowID}.

If this metadata was available to get from the sage database a simple rename batch file could be written and scheduled (or better yet a sage.properties setting that you could define your own naming convention by field name like Sage_Recording_Naming_Convention={Title}-{Episode}.mpg or {Title}-{ShowID}.mpg).

Sorry for the long post...

I'm guessing that the multi-digit number is probably a database link to the airing.
Look at the filename for a recent sage recording...
Using my webserver, find the exact airing in the EPG,(using the search function with 'in the past' selected) and display the detailed info
Look at the url..
See anything familiar :)

OK so the simple answer would have been "Hey It's the airing ID!" :thumb:

So is this "AiringID" an internal SAGE field, or is it a field we can actually search Zap2IT or TVTOME?
Like I said before

If this metadata was available to get from the sage database a simple rename batch file could be written and scheduled (or better yet a sage.properties setting that you could define your own naming convention by field name like Sage_Recording_Naming_Convention={Title}-{Episode}.mpg or {Title}-{ShowID}.mpg).

This would be a better solution as each individual would be able to format the name\title\date\episode(if avail).mpg If the information is there to show in Sage during and after the recording is complete, then why couldn't it be used to rename the files based on AiringID or whatever other field is avail to the users liking?...

Although it was pointed out to me that the name would still have to include the airingid otherwise it wouldn't show up in sage..correct?

What about generating a txt file that has the show information?

A couple of STVs already generate XML files with show info.

wwwhhhaaatttt??? I didn't know this, maybe because of lack of docs, ot the fact that I don't like to read...

Anyway. I will find out if the SAGEMC exports out an xml file, that would be awwsome !
