Burner DVD from sage recordings

Ok so I go to try and make a dvd out of a sage recorded mpeg2 file. The file was encoded with sage using "dvd standard"

So I use Easy CD Creator (DVD builder) and drop the file into it. However when it plays back it is like it is in slow motion, even audio is slowed. Any ideas what I am doing wrong.

P.S. I hate easy cd creator but it is what came with my drive and I have not bought nero yet ;)

Your best beat is Ulead Movie Factory, didn't your Retail PVR come with it?.
If not going to editing the clip then you don't need worry about changing the output stream type which is best to used Program Stream for editing you need make custom recordering profiles.
Don't waste your time with Nero I try TMPGEnc DVD Author.

Well I tried TMPGEnc and when i try selecting video file it complains that it is an unsupported format. I tried 2 different video files from sagetv. Both where encoded using the "DVD standard" setting.

I have run into this problem before. First of all fix the recording setting so it doesn't happen again, second, run the file through TMPGenc's Mpeg Tools feature.
1. Open TMPGenc
2. Go to File: Mpeg Tools
3. Merge & Cut Tab
4. Add video (this will automatically check the appropiate mpeg-2 program stream) You can also cut begin & end, or even all commercials if you know how or want to.
5. Select uotput files and click on run
6. Import into your favorite dvd authoring program. I recommend DVD Author, same makers of TMPGenc.

The problem you are probably having is stream type: outputstreamtype\=10 is for dvd, check your properties file...

edit: when you say tried TMPGenc, do you mean dvd author or TMPGenc the encoding program?

You know what I was not using TMPGEnc DVD Author.

I did a google search for TMPGEnc and got the only program they offer, did not think about there being another program with a similiar name similiar function and not mentioned on the same site :confused:

DVD Author is not a free program :bang:

I really do not want to have buy another program right now, just wanted to make a DVD for a buddy who missed a show. Hell it will be rerun by the time I get this damn DVD burned.

well, did you try the mpeg tools idea I posted earlier? If you are getting an out of spec error message from a sage recording and you are sure you used standard dvd setting, then the only problem should be that the output stream is not set to 10 in your Sage.properties file. In which case I believe your GOP setting is wrong for some authoring programs to import. Parsing it through mpeg tools does NOT reencode it and should only take a few minutes. I just rewrites the program headers and edits out parts of video if you want. I am 90% sure that this will solve your prblem.
I only mention DVDAuthor because it is IMHO, the easiest way to edit out commercials and burn to DVD. If this is just for a friend and you do not plan to burn to dvd or do not care about wasted space with commercials then it is not a good idea for you.

BTW: The makers of TMPGenc is Pegasys and they make this (http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tda.html) as well. It is not the same functionality at all. TMPGenc is a video encoder. DVD Author is just an Authoring program for DVDs

Problem is I do not have DVD Author, and since I can not even find a free trial I can not test it.

I checked my sage.property files and they are set correctly. Following you above post. I am not having any issue watching the files via Sage either (short of my stablility issues in another thread, but that I have determined is linked to my video card).

My issue is I want to make DVDs from the mpg files encoded by sage, without buying another program. I have EasyCDCreator 6 which has an DVD authoring tool, granted the UI sucks but I should be able to use that. If their is a freeware product out there that will help me great.

Not sure why my files would playback in slow motion in Roxio. They were encoded using sagetv 2.1 quality set to "DVD STANDARD" and I have not modified the properties file, but have confirmed that outputstreamtype\=10 is set as shown.

So have you tried to parse the video file through mpeg tools portion? Is that where it is giving you the error?

I had a problem where Sage recorded a file SG-1 Covanent, and the file was perfectly playable in Sage, Powerdvd, WMP and Nero Showtime, However no authoring program would except it nor would any program re-encode it. I have yet to find a way to fix this file. Maybe you are in the same boat?

I know you posted that you had this problem on 2 files, were you EVER successful at creating a dvd using ANY Sage recording?
