Hey there, I just got back to using SageTV(after having terrible experiences with MythTV) and I got it set up once, but then erased the config and started fresh. When I enter the zip code the program will hang and then tell me there is a connection issue to the sage server. I know my connection is good, I'm posting from the htpc.... does anyone know what the sage server is so I can check that(IP, domain, etc)? Thanks

Looks as though the download server is currently down...
I'm in the same boat as you - I reformatted and reinstalled due to nasty stutter issues, and when I try to rebuild my Sage install (set up the EPG), it times out just as it does for you. Of course it will go down after I reformat - I had the same experience when I first purchased Sage last year, except that time it was the Sun java download which was down. Couldn't use Sage due to the lack of Java!
Other users are reporting difficulty in downloading the beta versions as well as the stable ones, so I think we can safely point the finger at the download servers. We must all get the files from the same pot, as it were.
Hopefully it'll be up soon, as I *really* want to watch todays late-afternoon football contest. :)
Time to trek over to CompUSA to waste a gift card on a printer I've been eyeballing...

EDIT:
It would help if I read the above messages....
I was just able to download the beta 2.2.3 software - give it a shot now...

I wont grumble about the server going down, it happens and frankly this is the first time the service has been unavailable (at least as noticed by me) in a year.
But.. I will complain about the lack of status so far. By my reconing, the EPG service has been down for over 6 hours and we have yet to hear any status from Sage.
Sage: It is incidents like these that differentiate professionally run organizations from garage shops. I'm hoping you will show yourselves as the former.

Nope. Not yet.
Try rebooting your computer -- I seem to recall people stating in the past that once the EPG update failed, they had to either restart SageTV or the PC... and I think it was the PC that had to be restarted.

I apologize for the issues we've been having with the EPG server today. We recently began transitioning our mail, web and EPG server to a new hosting provider and should be complete in the next week or so. Unfortunately, the issue today is an effect from the current provider and we are working with them to get everything back online tonight.
Please accept my apology and we appreciate your patience as we work to rectify this situation.

It makes a big difference to at least know that you guys are aware of the issue and working on it. Good luck!

What timing... I've been debating a full reinstall for two weeks. I finally take the plunge and now I can't use Sage at all. Oh well, I'll try the MCE portion of MCE2005 and see how that is.
Here's to hoping it's back up soon!

The EPG server is now back online at a different location. We changed the DNS location as part of this. This will take a day or two to update depending upon your setup, but you can make it update immediately by going to:
Start->Run
and then typing:
ipconfig /flushdns
You will probably have to restart SageTV to get it to use the new DNS entry; Java caches DNS entries itself too sometimes.
Our apologies for the downtime.

Jeff, any chance for a backup EPG server in the future?

Yes, with the new hosting provider we are also working in a redundant server for the near future.

Very Cool Jeff. Also if possible, try and use a different domain name for the servers also (i.e. sagebackupdns.com) as a simple way to work around DNS issues. Ideally, this DNS server would be done through a different provider. Cheap to do and adds DNS redundancy. As you know, this secondary domain could then be checked inside of SageTV if the normal DNS looked has failed.
This would virtually eliminate any DNS problems.
