    Hi Clift:

Hope all is well. I was able to get my 2xHD-PVR to actually work but my video quality (as seen on the pc) appears grainy/blurry. Any suggestions to alleviate?
Also, I would like to be able to watch one live channel while recording another without having to a) have my tv on or b) if it is on having to have the tv set to the channel I want to record. Although I have the 2 HD-PVRs when I set up a recording schedule and my wife changes the tv channel I get the correct channel recorded but with content from whatever she was watching. How do I fix this problem? I have tried merit value settings etc without any success. Thanks much!

    Hi Clift:

Howdy? I hope you don't mind me contacting you on a one-on-one basis.

I have just setup my basic SageTVMy System

    SageTv V7.0.23246 (Windows Vista 6.0)
Synology DS210+ HD which I would like to use as a NAS

I am can record the channel I am watching to my HD attached to my desktop. However, I have the following problems:

    1) Using SageTV UI to record a movie I can't stop the movie recording at any arbitrary point without losing whatever has already been recorded. Is there is a way to solve this problem?

    2) I would like to watch a different live TV channel while I am recording another one. I was thinking about the HDHomerun or another HD-PVR or SageTV HD Theater. Any recommendations?
    3) How do I point to my Synology DS210+ HD (NAS) as another device to be recorded to?

I know you are busy so I do understand if this request is viewed as burdensome.

Thanks for any help with this.

    Regards,

Hey welcome to my page. I am always interested in other's views and interests. Drop me a PM anytime with any questions or comments. I am here to learn, but more importantly, I am here to help!

On the HTPC side I have been doing this since 2008 with various degrees of success. I have been successfully recording and playing back in HD throughout that time (firewire, HDHomerun, ATSC tuner, and HD PVR). I have experience dealing with MCE2005, Vinsta Media Center, SageTV and GB-PVR. My current setup is one machine server/client SageTV 6.4.8 with the following stats:
Athlon64 X2 BE-2400 @ 2.45GHz, 1GB DDR2 Ram, GeForce 8600GT PCIe, 400 GB Storage, DVD-RW DL, Soundblaster Audigy SE 5.1, MCE IR Reciever/Remote, Firewire, HDHomerun QAM, HD PVR, Sony SXRD 51" 1080p, Yamaha 6.1 Surround Receiver, Brighthouse Networks craple (oops I meant cable).

After much trial and heartache I have my HD PVR running stable and decent. I say decent because I don't like the ArcSoft decoder nor am I a fan of overlay compared to VMR9. BUT, it's stable and channel change over firewire is clean and reliable. edit: I am now using the 6.5.6 beta with EVR under Vista Home Premium... Much better, but still nto quite perfect. The HD PVR will lock up from time to time and the video has a dropped frame here and there every few minutes.

edit edit: I won a Sage HD Theater (STP-HD200) on the Geektonic giveaway. So I am using the HD200 as an extender and my HTPC is working as a SageTV server. The HD200 is great. Not perfect, but great. And stability has not been an issue.
