EPG missing some data for some channels
i've got a strange problem and the FAQ doesn't seem to cover this.
i have data on all my channels this week, but next week (friday, sat, sunday) i am missing a set of channels for most (but not all) of the weekend.........starting on monday after that weekend, the EPG data is good again for all channels. i've tried forced updates and it adds new channels but i can't seem to fill in the missing stuff. any ideas? update works only some hours and some channels are missing data (network channels, starting 8pm a week from friday is where i see the problem start). huh? Edited to add instructions The SageTV EPG servers were recently moved, so their IP addresses changed. Some versions of Java apparently have DNS caching issues where the IP address won't get updated for the new EPG server's IP address. Not everyone will have this problem, but if you do, the solution should be to simply exit & restart SageTV. However, while this fixes the IP address for future EPG updates, many people have reported that it was not enough to fill in existing "No Data" entries in the Program Guide, so instead it is recommended that some properties be edited according to this FAQ, with the relevant portion of that FAQ being: Quote:

I have the same thing happening, for the exact same days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) of next week. I first noticed the problem on Monday this week. Forcing an EPG update didn't fix any of the data gaps, so I left it a few days. Since then, quite a few of the gaps have filled in but I'm still getting random gaps of "No Data" on some channels. Everything after Sunday looks fine, not a single gap that I can find.
I'm on Shaw Direct in Canada, what service provider are you with? |

I use 2 line ups as well (since only one of my tuners will record HD). I was getting gaps on both lineups, but now all of my HD channels seem to be fine (all the gaps filled in). Only the common channels have gaps now.
I checked all of my favourites, and can't find any problems with missing data for that period (since most of my favourites are HD). As long as I don't get any new gaps showing up, I think I should be fine. Would be nice to know why this has happened though. |

so we both have gaps on the channels that are common to 2 lineups............oh well.
i guess i'm fine as long as it doesn't happen again. i did have to make one manual timed recording to cover a missing show but that is not too bad for a one-of event

I'm having the same problem, but I'm on Comcast, in Chicago. Missing data randomly on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Some local and some cable only channels. After that, good until the end of Friday after that (end for all channels).
Forced update did nothing.

No Data Scattered Throughout Lots of Channels
I'm running Sage v7.0.23, in part because I've heard there are some annoying bugs regarding sort order of imported videos in the beta.
Today I noticed a lot of my channels have "no data" scattered throughout the program guide. On each channel, some hours it has data, other hours it doesn't. It looks completely random. I've tried forcing a program guide refresh multiple times, but it doesn't seem to work. Removing a channel from all my sources, then re-adding it, does seem to work (based on a one try), but I don't want to have to do that for all my channels. It would take me hours to remove them and re-add all of them. Is there some easier way to blow away the guide data? * merged * |

Thanks. That seems to have done the trick.
I see this has been merged with that thread. I didn't think to look in the EPG Service section, since I was pretty sure the actual data from Zap2it was correct. Maybe Andy should sticky this in the SageTV Software thread, where people will find it easier. It sounds like almost everyone will have this problem. |

Program guide has lots of No Data's this weekend??
Hey all, anybody on FIOS seen big gaps in their guide this weekend? My sage 7 setup has been humming along, and suddenly this weekend I noticed that it wasn't indicating a recording at 8:00 on Saturday (and it ALWAYS records COPS at 8:00 Saturday), so I looked and the guide said No Data. I looked around, and there were some items in the guide, on most channels, but almost all of them had hour or two or three gaps of No Data.
As of Sunday at around 9:00PM most are back to normal, and at 11:00 Sunday the last one or two are populated again. Any idea what the deal is here??? Mick * merged * I SEARCHED HONEST I DID!! Last edited by MickBurke; 09-25-2011 at 08:45 AM. Reason: I feel like a dope. |

Guide has (mostly) stopped updating
Looking through the guide, it is now only about half populated, even this evening's date. I have two of the Hauppage twin tuner cards for OTA receiption. I am in the SF/Oakland/San Jose market. All the antennas are in SF; never been a problem. I looked at the EPG setup for each of the 4 tuners, and they all say they are in the right market. But tried to drill down the menu tree to reset, select XMLTV, local broadcast, the next screen suggests typing a key to jump to my market, but that page is blank. I suspect it should present a list from which I select. I am only minimally experienced with Sage setup details; all help greatly appreciated.

EPG entries disappearing
Using V7 on a dedicated server running WIN7-64. I have two Hauppauge twin-tuner cards connected to an antenna for OTA. No cable available. When I open the Guide about half of the entries are either blank or have "No data", the other half is fine. If I go out 12 hours in the future, there are no blanks and no "No data" entries. This is a rolling phenomina; later today there will still be a twelve hour window. So, it seems that there are entries that were there previously, that have been dropped. I have no idea where to start.
I checked the EPG setting for each of the four tuners. All have EPG-San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose, then "Local (OTA), but then the next page says to "Select local broadcast market", and it is blank. I am making another posting regarding false "Conflict" warnings. Don't think they are related, but thought I would mention it here to be complete. * merged, again * |

I see a couple people saying thanks, that worked, and thanks for the help, but I'm not actually seeing any help. What do I do to fix all the No Data in my guide (and there are A LOT)?

Is it possible that the new EPG servers are using stale data?
I ask b/c I have various staions mapped in my lineup to use Shaw Cable channels from Zap2It, rather than DirecTV. The reason I do this is b/c Shaw has the correct game (vs) information on each channel in that lineup, but my DirectTV san diego lineup does not. . . Now today, even after I went though, all these steps mentioned in this thread to get guide data working, I appear to never get the game/proper data, even though I see it clearly in the Zap2It site, and I know that I have the channels mapped correctly. This always worked in the past. . .

Yeah for sure, in my lineup, the shaw channels i have added do not have any data other than the base line "tune in for sunday ticket" and the time blocks are all wrong.
Usually what I do is (from a clean sage installation) 1.) Add Channels to lineup 2.) Set Physical / Logical channel to corresponding DirecTV channel 3.) Set done. Once this is done, from there on out, once a week I re-do this same thing. B/C the channel IDs had already been added, all I then I have to do is change the Physical / Logical channel mapping. At the moment this appears to no longer be working. .. I tried a restart, I tried a full shut down, and edited properties file entries as noted elsewhere. I tried enabling/disabling a channel. Still nothing. . . Note that when I enable/disable channels that I had added, (rather than just some random channel to force an update), no EPG update happens at all according to system information. So either the servers are no longer getting canadian data properly /correctly. . . Or there is stale data, or something of the like. . . I even checked the shaw lineup name in zap2it, and it has not changed, althoguh I don't know why this would matter since i'm just adding channels manually and not actually using the full lineup.

Yeah I was just curious if there could be other edge issues with folks who have raw channel ids added to lineups (which are technically from other lineups).
I'm not seeing issues with my standard lineups that I can tell. . .but the added channels are for sure not right at the moment. . .
