client/server nstallation question

I just ordered sagetv with a pvr250 and the client software. I plan to run sagetv and the pvr250 in a dedicated server not connected to a tv. The client will run on an htpc connected to a hdtv. Right now I'm using dscaler with a different tuner card (flyvideo 2000) in the htpc and I'm very pleased with the picture. Obviously I want to get the best picture possible out of sagetv, hopefully as good as what I'm getting with dscaler/flyvideo combo. I plan to use the dscaler filters and ffdshow. My question is, would it be wise to jump into the client/server setup from the getgo and tweek the client to get the best picture? Or should I first try to get sagetv working well and displaying a good picture on the server before even attempting to get the client working. One reason I'm asking is because I don't even have a monitor hooked up to the server (right now its a dvd media server and I just VNC into it to make any config changes). I'm hoping I can just do all the tweaking on the client.

Perhaps this is kind of a vague question. I guess I'm just looking for some experienced guidance as to where to begin with a client/server install.

Thanks,
Marc
