Has anyone released a plugin for launching external Programs?
I'm not talking about the one for dealing with videos.
I want to be able to launch external programs with arguments that are not dealing with videos. I'm remembering the old BeyondMedia plugin that let me launch my game emulators and such, and am missing that dearly.

In the manual they mention being able to setup the Custom1 and such buttons, then to associate them... Not quite sure what can be put in those Custom*...

No, noone's published anything yet. I think everyone is just rolling their own local stvi to do it. the problem with making a public plugin for something like this, is you'd have to have a different STVi for each location you might want to insert the menu option. The way sage programmed the menus in v7 are FAR more complex to tweak than previous versions.

I just used studio to create my own menu items. It isn't all that difficult, but does take some time to learn. I can launch anything I want now without much effort.

Yep, you were right. I like having a better idea of what is going on under the hood of sage.

well i was hoping I wouldn't have to dive to much into studio.
heck i'm an engineer, and everytime i have opened studio before, i've gotten throughouly confused. I'm kind of thinkng though that you still need a plugin for what I'd want to do. . .b/c I'd want it to recurse through the directories I specify, finding roms, associate images for display, etc. Seems like you should be able to just make a view generic enough, you just need to define the parameters for what "items" are (in my case roms), and how to read the meta data.
