It all comes from Zap2It/Tribune, but the feeds are slightly different. The differences are only with the amount of details included in each feed, not the accuracy or basic info (the basics are all the same - title, episode name, airing time, channels, etc.) The plugin wiki talks about what differences exist.

Season/episode numbers are grabbed from thetvdb.com (licensed version of plugin only). Not sure what you're referring to with "what's on tv" section?

Possibly the "TV Show Editorials". It's the first thing I though of anyway. Otherwise it is likely from a plugin.

Yes, I was referring to the "TV Show Editorials." I was at work so couldn't check sage for the official name.

No editorials and the Sage API does not allow insertion of editorials from alternate sources so there's no way to add them. If you move away from the Sage EPG, you lose the editorials.

You also lose the Series Details info provided by the Sage EPG server, however the Sage API does allow third parties to insert the Series Details and there are enough details in thetvdb.com xml data downloaded for each show to actually fill them in, but I personally don't care enough about that data so didn't implement it, but it could be an enhancement down the road, if the demand were there/I find the desire to write the code (I also accept patches ).

As soon I was able to recover my EPG...I said the same thing.
I installed SageTV on a 2nd pc with a left over capture card...so I have 2nd machine to 'play with'....to give me some time to 'get it right'.

Right now I'm testing XMLTV with the SchedulesDirect feed...seems to work ok for me.
(only one cable lineup)...but it seems flexible enough...

going to keep that pc for a few weeks and see how it works for a longer test.

PS> and SD's 7 day free test period is great..to work out the bugs in your bat file!

EPG Data

I wonder whether the folks at Google would consider keeping their EPG servers up for a regular fee to cover the EPG sourcing costs.

Why not use XMLTV to collect the schedule from Schedules Direct, then use XMLTV Importer for SageTV to make the schedule available to SageTV? I've been doing it with SageTV v6 from the day after Sage was purchased until two weeks ago, and using it with SageTV v7 since then. I've never had a single issue with it and plan to keep using it until the newest version of Slugger's plugin is available to try out.

Phydeaux - Are you saying that I could (manually) import XMLTV into Sage every few days or so and then I could use the same guide as Sage uses now? Can you elaborate on this? I'm worried about what to do if they turn the EPG off at some point as well as possibly this forum? Google buys a company and then does not support the product. I can't understand why anyone would do that...

Thanks,
Mike
