I don't get it.
From the Dune's newest machine's specs:
Quote:
Audio codecs: AC3 (Dolby Digital), MPEG, AAC, LPCM, WMA, WMAPro, FLAC, multichannel FLAC, Ogg/Vorbis; support for very high quality audio (up to 192 kHz / 24-bit)
I don't see DTS?

I'm probably going to end up with a D-Link Boxee just to give it a try...

You'll find different models have different features. The Dune HD Smart D1 lists:
Quote:
HD audio: enjoy top-quality audio tracks (Dolby True HD, DTS HD Master Audio, LPCM, FLAC).

Nice unit that Dune HD Smart D1, if a little on the rich side for me. Better than a $400+ HD300 for sure though.

I think the HD300 still beats the Dune HD Smart D1 even at $400. You get live tv and sagetv interface.

No 30 seconds is the only option

I pretty much don't do live TV, as I record everything, so not an important feature for me, especially one that I'd need to have at every extender. But I can see how that could be important for some (most?).

I so dislike the SageTV normal interface that I don't see it as a "plus", but the ability to use my own tailored SageMC interface is indeed worth a little more. The consistent experience from extender to extender is worth a bit also, especially so it doesn't confuse my wife even more.
Still, $400 is way more than I'd want to spend. Even $300 is beyond what I'd want to spend. There are at least 3 HD200 maybe 4 in the house that I'd ideally want to upgrade to DTS but that's just not worth $1,200 or $1,600 to me.
Hence the search for much cheaper alternative. The reality is I might continue to live with it as it is until a new whole house solution comes along.

Eric

Thank you thank you!

Just ordered one. They have a mail in rebate of $20 until end of May. At that price ($70 after rebate) can't really go much wrong.

If I like it' I'll get a few more.

I have one but am not using the DTS features - I am happy with mine, but make sure you update the firmware to the latest stable version. I had some issues playing HD-PVR .ts files at first but the update fixed all the issues.

This box does not have 30-second skip (grrr) but does have pretty easy access to a skip a minute at a time.

Oh yeah That's an important feature I didn't even think about.
I like my 30 sec skip forward, 7 sec skip back.
Ah well! For the price I can't go very wrong.

Very sweet machine. A quick search didn't show it in any online store I trust, but that's not the end of the world.

Trust Newegg? It's there...

Yep. Love Newegg...

I must be real slow this afternoon cause I get 0 results on Newegg on either "Himedia" or "HD900B".

My Pivos AIOS is arriving tomorrow. There's a hacked firmware for it already, though I understand it doesn't play HDPVR .ts files properly.
It has a web browser, so I wonder what that'd give as a SageTV interface?
Anyhoo: Plenty of geeking around to keep me occupied for a while.

You're not slow, I am. I thought you were talking about the AIOS.
