entering keys for a re-install

I had my original key for version 6xxx

I also have a purchasded upgrade key for version 7xxx

I re-installed Sage 7.19 or whatever the latest is on a new drive.
It didn't want the upgrade key, so I gave it the original key.

All's well, except that it says I have 21 days to enter the upgrade key.

Question: after searching around here for a while, I can't figure out WHERE to enter the upgrade key.

1 see you have 2 options.

1. Think from command/dos prompt sage -REGISTER
2. Grab the "unlocked" exes that Narflex posted that allowed you to have 7.1.9 even if you didn't have an upgrade key (as long as you have a valid V5 or V6 key) http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56225

If you launch the SageTV Server GUI without service mode (might work if it is active but KNOW it works when it isn't) it should bring up a dialog where you can click on the "Enter License Key" button. Then just enter your upgrade key. The name should already be filled in with the name from your NON-upgrade key.

thanks - lots of good ideas. However, as I was sitting here, the 21 days requester just popped up - I entered my keys, and Voila! eez done.

I just reinstalled my SageTV 7 server. I have a v4 key, a v6 upgrade key, and a v7 upgrade key, (and I don't have the special v7 binaries). Right after the install I quit before configuring anything, copied over my wiz.bin/channel logos, set up the service, then selected "Start > SageTV > Register SageTV Media Extender..." to put in my placeshifter/extender keys. First asked if I wanted to register SageTV. I had to put in the v4 key, open again and put in my v6 upgrade key, then open one last time to enter my v7 upgrade key. There's probably an easier way to do it, but I also got the Placeshifter/Extender keys in there through this (one at a time, though)...thank goodness for cut-and-paste!
