force recordings to record

is there any way to make sage TV force a recording ? I noticed that some of my recordings are not getting recorded when people are watching live TV, I'd rather have it kick the live TV off and record my shows ?

Thanks

Mark the show as a Manual recording. A few minutes before the show is scheduled to record anybody watching Live TV will get a pop-up asking them if it's OK to change the channel to record the show. As long as they answer Yes, it will record.

If this is a fairly significant issue, I'd suggest adding another (or a couple) tuners/capture devices. Or, you could hook up a standard STB for people to use for live TV.

it pops up that notification do you want to change the channel but people here want to watch there live tv show so they say no and we miss our shows, I have 3 tuners but sometimes 3 shows record at the same time so I want it to simply kick the live tv off if all 3 tuners are in use, there has to be a way to do this..........

thanks

I think the only chance you'd have would be to load the STV in Studio and modify it to either remove that popup and instead always answer "Yes, change the channel" or modify the popup so it answers Yes regardless of what the user selects. I don't think there's a setting available to disable the popup and have it always kick live tv - you will have to customize the STV somehow to achieve your desired end result.

It would be easier to get a 4th tuner

Use the Change Channel To Record Plugin ... you can set a default action. Look under all available plugins.

I'm glad there was a "potential" fix for your problem. I say potential because what's to stop the users who wouldn't let Sage change the channel in the first place to simply change the channel back to what they were watching? This scenario sounds very likely to me if they are knowingly overriding scheduled recordings in order to watch "live TV". That is unless the plug-in also disables the ability to change the channel after a scheduled recording has started. If so then problem solved.

It just seems like a user problem to me. In my home everyone knows that scheduled recordings always take priority and they allow Sage to change the channel when requested. They know if they don't let Sage change the channel then someone in the family is going to miss one of their favorites and it might be one their favorites that is missed.

I don't use a remote prefer a controller. You could probably use eventghost or girder to emaulate keystrokes etc..

That's where Manage STV permissions plugin comes in handy, with password control on the cancel recording function that would be impossible
