1.4.3beta not recording!?
Hi, after I upgraded to the new beta, my Sage Tv's been acting wierd. The "Schedule Recording" section is empty, although I have a bunch of favorites upcoming. When I click on record to manually record a show, it will record; however, when I go back to the guide or "sleep" the program, or watch another pre-recorded show, then the recording would stop.... I have a 2 tuner (PVR-250) setup, plus a network PVR-250 running Sage Recorder (also upgraded to the latest beta version). Thanks. Tony

Basically, Sage lost the ability to schedule recordings once I manually set the program to record a show that co-incided with this "NO DATA" entry. Maybe the same thing happened to you. Try e-mailing the support e-mail and send this WIZ.BIN file. You might want to try copying the WIZ.BAK file and renaming to WIZ.BIN and see if that helps. Lauren |

For whatever reason(s), no doubt of my own making, I've been corrupting my WIZ.DAT files (at which point SageTV overruns all computer resources, an endless loop?) By the time I've notice what's happened, the WIZ.BAK copy is also corrupted. Documentation somewhere, I think I saw, says that at intervals the database is cleaned up. Is there a way to force this to happen. I've gotten pretty good at retyping all of my favorites.
I've been following the note string re scripts to back up the database at intervals, but I haven't read anything about things to do to uncorrupt it. |

Somewhere around here Jeff made a post to the effect that the wiz.bin is compressed when there is a database update. He said that SageTV attempts to fix any Wiz corruption at this time. He suggested going to your "Channel Setup" menu and then pressing the right arrow key. This is supposed to force a EPG update and also a Wiz check. I have yet to have it fix a corrupt wiz but it's worth a try.

Thanks!
By the way, I'm killing SageTV 1.43 now during fast forwards. XP detects an error with my display (I'm using the built-in Intel display interface in my 845-based Intel motherboard with Intel drivers, and Windows defaults an 8-bit VGA device mode. SageTV then takes off and gobbles up all cycles, but I can kill it and restart from the task manager. If I'm not timely with how I do, I can't get to the task manager and then I have to do a hard reboot. That is when I apparently munge up the database. |
