Fast forward problem and no disk error

I am currently having several small issues.

I have a strange problem when watching my captured home movies(.avi) They will start out fine, but around 23-30 seconds into the video the timeline stops advancing and the video keeps playing. If I hit ff the video reverts to the time where the timeline quit advancing(in effect rewinding). If I don't try to ff or rew the video plays fine. I am running 4.1.3.

I also have a problem with another of my clients after using it to play a DVD. It will give me the "No Disk" error when I try to watch any of my recordings until I reboot. Closing Sage down and opening it back up does not seem to work. I don't notice the behavior until after I have watched a DVD and the DVD is no longer in the drive.

Neither of these problems are major, but they are annoying, especially when I have to get up to click cancel after I get the "No Disk" error.
