Connecting to server error and Flickering Menu

I am running an Anthlon XP 2400 with a GForce 6200 Nvidia video cart and two PR150 Tuner cards. I installed Gentoo and then SageTV for Linux 5. Everything installed well, except I have three problems.

1. The remote would not work, but I fixed it from this post:

2. On boot up, I get following error:

Error connecting to server of:java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused

I would appreciate help on this.

3. When launch the TV, the menu flickers some and then stops. But, any time I try to do anything, the menu starts flickering again and will not stay on the screen. When I move the mouse, it show in transparent form, flickering as long as I keep the mouse moving. I can select things to make changes, but why is the menu not working correctly. I would appreciate help on this.
