How well does Nvidia hardware acceleration work for HD in linux?
Anyone know how well HD acceleration works in linux with the 8000 Nvidia cards? Basically, I'm trying to find the minumum requirements to run HD in linux (ie. would an AMD sempron 3000+ processor and a Nvidia 8400 video card run nice HD in linux)?

I don't believe it works at all on linux.

Thanks for the answer stanger.

Any idea what kind of processor would be required since hardware accel doesn't work on Linux?

Not off the top of my head, I'm not sure how linux compares to Windows efficiency wise. Seems like my Athlon 64 3400+ has trouble in Windows without hardware accelleration.

Thanks again Stanger. My experience has been similar to yours.

Has anyone run hd content with the linux version with success? If so, I'd appreciate it if you'd post your specs.

I run linux server headless, but my clients are MVPs and Windows clients.
