Competive Upgrades

Are there any Competitive upgrades deals or coupons. I'm currently using Snapstream. I'm pissed off with the the their support and development. I noticed SageTV has become a far better product.

Firstly, Welcome to Sage. I (and many others here) are also BTV converts.

I've never seen Sage run a "special" like BTV periodically does (free after rebate, $20.00 off etc.) If you intend to use an extender you usually get a better deal by buying the hardware and license together from Sage.

My opinion is that Sage is well worth the price of the initial license. I have several BTV licenses I'll sell to you cheap if you decide to stick with BTV

I'm interested in the new HD extender that is coming out. I might wait to get on board until it is released. Maybe SageTV will have a special bundle price.

Probably not, and too be honest, Sage doesn't have the best reputation for delivering things when promised. The HD extender is closer than it ever has been before, but it's already slipped past the mid-November target date. EDIT: I just re-read the HD thread, and saw that the extender was pushed back to early December, so they're right on track with their third or fourth estimate for delivering this thing.

Of course, it could drop today My point is that a) historically, the price of a client license has never impacted the price of a server license, and b) waiting for a new client to arrive from Sage is excruciating.
