Problem with menus & graphics
I purchased SageTV, the Haupage Dual tuner and Media Extender all from the SageTV online store about a week ago. I installed yesterday, and I have only been working with it for a few hours. After trolling the forums, I understand that there is a bit of tweaking to get it just like you want it, and I’m OK with that.
HOWEVER, my 1st problem that is making it tough to proceed, and get to the customizing, is one of the menus: -The selection box does not line up with the words to be selected. -The bottom 20% or so of the screen seems to appear and disappear at random, even when I am not pushing any buttons. -In many screens, the many of the words overwrite each other. This makes it difficult & frustrating to get going. I searched for any threads on similar problems, but could not find. If there is a FAQ on this, I would appreciate a pointer. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! MOAKES OTHER INFO & HARDWARE: I have only messed with this for a couple hours after installation, so I am not an expert (yet). Additionally, I have NOT installed the Media Extender, and I wanted to get it running on the main PC before adding complexity. This is a dedicated PC, and I used the system restore disk to rebuild the PC (and download all the Windows updates, and update the graphics driver) before I installed SageTV. I'm just trying the demo and I'm having a similar problem. If I manage to find my way into a menu it brings up the new menu without flushing the old one. Before long I have lots of overlapping text and can't make out anything.
Anyone have any ideas? |

What java version are you running? I had the same issue until I upgraded to the latest JRE 1.6 and the issues went away.

Thanks for the reply. I just checked and it is: "Java Platform, Standard Edition, version 1.6.0". So I believe I am up to date.
I have now installed my MediaMPV (and am using it on a TV in another room) and it works like a champ (no graphics issues) so it is a issue with the graphics on the local PC. SO, is that the same as JRE 1.6 ? I checked mine this way: Start/Control Panel/Java/General/About |

You could have issues with menu animations if your graphics hardware is underpowered. From your system specs I'm guessing it's some sort of integrated motherboard graphics using 64 MB of memory. If you can increase that memory allotment it might help. Otherwise, make sure 3D acceleration is enabled in Sage, and try disabling the animation system (both under Detailed Setup).

GKusnick you are a genius!!!!! Yes I have a crappy on board 64MB card (knew that). BUT turning off the "animation system" did the trick!!!!! I NEVER would have found that without your help! Thanks a million, I appreciate the help!
