Stuttering in SD when recording
I know there are a tone of stutter threads, but I haven't been able to find stuff I needed. Its highly possible I don't understand what I'm reading either. I am running v6 and if I watch a recording when I am recording another show (I only have SD) I get some tearing and stuttering.. By stuttering I mean the sound will continue and the picture will stop for maybe 1/2 second...then hurry and catch up. It works fine when I use teh overlay renderer, but then I can't display on my projector (thru VGA) and my TV at the same time (thru S-Video) which is resulting in a rapidly diminishing WAF.
Here is what I'm running: Biostar NF325-A7 Motherboard Athlon 64 3400 CPU 1.5 gb of RAM (but I had exact same symptoms with 512mb) GeForce FX5200 fanless vid card about 200 gb of storage, I have prob 100 gb free right now. I made sure to format with large clusters or whatever that was that Sage warned about. The only weak link I see might be the vid card, but I would have though tit would be adequate for SD. I was running v5 before a HD crash and don't remember having this problem. While I put off fixing my Sage Machine, v6 was released and I used that, now I notice the problem. I have a fairly clean install, just SageTV, Orb (had this problem before I installed anything tho), LogMeIn plugin, and Quicktime (so I could watch the macworld keynote on my tv). Feel free to speak slowly, I'm not a total comuter newbie, but am inexperienced with vid playback and this sort of stuff. TIA Last edited by Bittermormon; 01-26-2008 at 11:02 AM. |

I think I'm going to try downgrading to v5 and see if that solves anything. Now off to search how to save all my recordings and stuff.

I downgraded to V5, but still had the same problems. I don't get the tearing or stutter when I use overlay, but it doesn't look as nice. Any ideas out there? You think my video card is underpowered?

I am currently using 6.3 with FSE enabled. For the most part its working well with VMR9. I get a little bit of tearing, but its pretty watchable. However, I watched a bball game tonight and it was a pretty jerky. I switched to overlay and it worked fine, but the quality suffers a bit. I'm assuming my machine is having trouble displaying the crowd. Thats when it gets jerky.
Any ideas out there? If I do upgrade vid cards, I'm open to suggestions. |
