Playback Exception Error (-40X80040218)
I recently changed to a Server/Client setup. When I try to play an Audio file (music) recorded on the server from any client I get the following error:
"Playback Exception Error (-40X80040218) There was a problem rendering the video portion of the current playback." Why would Sage Client try to render VIDEO from an AUDIO recording? BTW: The audio recordings play fine on the server (local).

That particular error code usually indicates a codec issue. Are you using some offbeat audio format that requires special codecs? What happens if you try to play the file using GraphEdit?

What kind of files are they? They may be a file type that can't be streamed & has to be played by a client using direct access to the files. If this is the case, you'll need to switch to UNC paths for the import dirs.

BTW; I started a client on my Network Encoder and get this error: "Playback Exception Error (-50X80040218) There was a problem rendering the audio portion of the current playback." This I would expect, so why is STV trying to render video from a ripped CD?

I don't know why the error mentions video; I guess it is just a byproduct of the playbck error when the format can't be streamed. You could first try another decoder, like Greg mentioned, but I've seen this type of error for WMA files on the forum in the past. - Andy

I just had the same thing happen on an mpg file that used to play before I rebuilt the server. avi does fine. doesn't matter what codec I select in Sage (PDVD7 or Sage mpeg). Tried different audio codecs too. file plays fine in VLC.
