How does the Remote wonder FF and RW work

When I was playing around with Girder this weekend trying to get it ready for sage2.0 I noticed something while fastforwarding. I had to repedly press the FF to get anywhere. With the remote wonder and the plug-in for sage I just had to hold it down and it would just keep fastforwarding.

I just tried it with my girder setup and I could just hold down the FF key and it would keep going. How do you have girder set up?

With ATIRW and Girder, there are 3 possible events that can be 'learnt' for each button: Down, Up and Repeat.

I guess you have only taught Girder the 'down' events for FF/REW. To add the 'repeat' events is a bit tricky:

press and hold the 'FF' button
Click Learn Event
wait (a few milliseconds) for repeat event to be captured in Girder
release FF button.

I needed to do this for FF, REW, Pause (frame advance), Arrow keys and ChUp/Down.

Capturing 'up' events is near impossible, and I think the only way to do it is to hand-edit the GML! Fortunately they hardly ever need to be used.

(debugging Girder events is also possibly using the 'Logger' plugin on the girder site that logs every event received)

To help with the learning of repeat, press the button until you see girder is learning the repeat signal and then click learn.

Ok I got the repeat to work but when I depress the button it keeps going(FF RW). The only way to stop it is to hit pause.

You might want to try learning the Up or Release event and mapping that to play.

Or just make sure you're not mapping the button up request to FF or RW too.

learning up event on girder for remote wonder

I read this somewhere (possibly girder forum)
you can learn the up event by holding down the remote button first, then clicking the learn button in girder, then letting go of the remote button.
this worked for me. you might have to do it quickly enough in sequence so that you don't accidentally send girder the repeat code before you send the up code.

After playing around with the repeat for awhile it is pretty unresponsive for me in ff and rw. It takes about 2-3 secs it to FF after I press down the button. Is there any way to fix this?
