Interesting recording behavior (or lack thereof)

I'm puzzled as to why my SageTV didnt record properly tonight. Right now there are 3 tuners in my box (2 HD, 1 STD). At 8pm, box SHOULD have recorded: House (HD), Chuck (HD), and Greek (STD). My box only recorded Greek, but the guide indicates that both Chuck and House are first runs. At 9pm, my box correctly recorded Heroes(HD) and 24 (HD).

I cant figure out why it recorded Greek but not Chuck or House. Heroes and 24 both follow Chuck and House, respectively, in HD, on the same channels so I know there was no tuner conflict, nor does Sage say there is a conflict. Both House and Chuck are ranked much higher in my series prefs as well. Is there a log somewhere I can check or anything to figure out what happened here?

Are you sure there was no conflict icon?

Do your Favorites have padding & you don't have the option enabled to remove padding on back to back Favorites on the same channel?

This FAQ contains info about why a Favorite might not get scheduled and this FAQ covers debug logging. Perhaps SageTV did try to record the shows, but the files were corrupt for some reason & were delete?

Are your HD tuners OTA? Sounds like Sage attempted to record the missing shows, but encountered an error (bad/weak/no signal if OTA, perhaps?) and aborted the recordings.

If you're running SageTV with debug logging enabled then you'll find the sagetv_0.txt file in C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\, which should give you the answers you seek. If SageTV is not running in debug mode then stop SageTV, edit Sage.properties, add debug=TRUE to the file, save it, and restart SageTV (I realize this won't help you now, but at least the debug details will be available for future problems).

Definitely no debug log and no conflict icon. I watched TV this afternoon and would have seen a conflict icon. I am using the SageMC theme and when I look in the Guide, it doesnt even show a record symbol on Chuck or House, but it does on Greek as well as 24 and Heroes. I am using OTA, but signal strength shouldnt be an issue. I live in Midtown Atlanta and I've never had reception issues and the weather is clear tonight. Both shows do not have padding and the option to remove padding or change channels when shows are back-to-back are set properly. It's not like this a new setup. It's been recording fine for months. The ONLY difference is that Greek is back on. In prior weeks, the only shows in the 8pm time slot were Chuck and House. Regardless, Greek can only be tuned on my STD as its cable. Chuck and House were OTA HD. I've got 2HD and 1STD tuners right now, so I know it should work. One of my Happauge HVR-1600s is out for repair (I normally have 2 HD and 2 STD tuners), but I've got an HVR-1900 temporarily setup. It does not have 2 tuners, so it's set to HD and my other 1600 covers HD and STD.

I will enable logging going forward.

If you are using SageMC, please use the SageMC subforum for help while using that UI.

But, for you to determine what the issue is, you should load the default UI and see what it says about those shows, referring to the FAQ I posted above regarding checking your Favorites. Maybe those shows aren't even considered to be Favorites any more for some reason.

I reloaded the default UI and everything according to the FAQ looks fine. I'm truly perplexed.

Also, do I need to worry about the log files growing astronomically big over time if I leave debugging on?

No, they turn over at around 10 MB & only the last 4 are kept.
