Have I Got A TapeWorm?

When I was fooling around with MythTV, I tried an app called "TapeWorm".

Since going to SageTV, I have not touched TapeWorm and indeed SageTV is running as a service on a Windows Home Server that was built up post-MythTV by quite a few weeks - i.e. there's no chance I accidentally installed TapeWorm there.

The install folder for TapeWorm resides on the server - but it's never been opened. In fact I just discovered it there when searching.

But over the past few days, when I turn on my TV and fire up the HD200 underneath it I've been seeing TapeWorm screens briefly before the HD200 completely boots up.

Does this sound familiar to anybody?

Upon reflection, I'm thinking maybe the HD200 is going into some kind of screensaver-shows-.JPGs mode.

Seems more than possible that I've got a few screen shots from TapeWorm laying around *somewhere* in the network - and, IIRC, the HD200s have functionality built into them that scans for images across the entire network.

Does this sound more plausible?

Yeah, there's no way a windows app will display through the HD200 other than through a screenshot.

Last nite (a few days after this all began) my SageTV functionality got weird... acting like there was only one or 2 tuners instead of four... and then a lot of "No Signal".

I rebooted the server and things went back to normal.

Dunno if there could be a connection or not....

I'm thinking, though, that maybe it's just good practice to re-boot every so often.

I caught it this morning - having forgotten and left the HD200 powered up overnite.

It's definately some sort of screen-saver option that's kicked in. Didn't recognize 90% of the images, but there were enough obvious system icons that it seems like a slam-dunk.

Now that I know about it, I like it. My Better Half complains (legitimately IMHO) that the digital pix we shoot go on disc and then nobody ever sees them again. I figure I'll take a little time; find out how to point the screen saver to our photo directories; and let Nature take it's course.

I had issues with with memory leaks over time not to mention other random flaky issues. I installed an app to reboot the computer every morning ~5:00 am and all my issues went away.

This has been a hit with the wife. I would recommend it to others.

Can you name the app? I'd like to do the same.

Windows ships with a utility called shutdown.exe that can initiate a reboot from the command line. That combined with Scheduled Tasks should get you what you want.
