Playlist Management

I could not find anything relating to 2.0.x and playlist feature enhancement / management.

I'd like to have a way to externally modify and/or import playlists (creating numerous, multi song playlists is tedious with the current GUI).

I'd also like to have some default playlists (i.e. All Music) and features like Shuffle or Playlist Loop.

My usage scenario is that I listen to all my music (shuffled) while doing things around the house and to create the All Music playlist appears to be exceedingly painful...

Is there no answer to this. I sure as heck have not figured out how to get my audio files to show up in SageTV.

I have not heard a reply.

My problem stems from the fact that there does not appear to be a simple way in the GUI, and with the remote, to generate these "standard" playlists. Since this is a machine in my living room I do not have a keypad or mouse connected. I was hoping I could import a playlist say from WMP or WinAMP but have not yet found a way to do this.

m3u playlist tool would be mighty helpful to lots of people with this issue in mind. Here is the syntax of an .m3u file (perhaps this would be an easy way to create a backdoor for internet radio too!!!!!!! <PuhPuhPleaseeeeeeeeeee>:

Hi,

I don't know what you are doing that is painful. I have found the playlist managment the easiest I have ever seen. Once I create a blank playlist, when I press "OK" it defaults to "Add to XXXX Playlist" and I press OK again. What more can you ask for except for an import routine? There was an issue with deleting entries off the playlist but that seems to have been fixed in V2.0.16rc1.

The random feature is truly random, not like windows media player that plays the shuffeled list the exact same way EVERY time.

A little more detail about what is painful would be helpful

You already have this.. Turn on "Random Play" and select any song to start. You will notice it will play ALL Music in a Random playlist. Won't hear the same song twice for days.

ok.sorry it took me soo long to reply.

Wishes:

1. Album, Artist, and Playlist Shuffle. (Shuffling an entire collection 83 GB of music often gives me results I did not want)

2. Album, Artist Play.

2. The ability to create many playlists quickly is not possible in sage. Give me winamp and explorer and I promise you I will create 10 playlists of 20 songs in the time it takes you to make one.

I guess those are my big complaints and wishes.

I agree with Roco that the internet radio and M3U Playlist ability would be a big boost to the music aspect of Sage. Without it, it is borderline useful. And I agree that the user friendliness for the Music App could be improved.. it requires many clicks and commands to do the simlpest things. LESS CLICKS = BETTER, hence LESS = MORE (For GUI Design)
