HD HomeRun: Where Do Data Live?
I'm about halfway through rebuilding my SageTV/WHS box and it *seems* tb going ok except for HD HomeRun.
Before starting, I backed up C:\Program Files\SageTV and C:\Program Files\Silicon Dust (or HdHomeRun... can't recall at the moment). After installing WHS, installing SageTV, and installing HD Homerun on the new build, I copied those backed-up directories over top of the ones that were there. Restoring 4-5 tb of data is taking awhile - been running all nite and was still cookin' when I left for work. But just with what's done so far it looks like Sage is back in business: recordings are there, settings seem tb unchanged, and so-forth. One problem: Sage seems to have lost it's channels. I'm thinking that I neglected to copy/restore something somewhere. If it was on the data drives, I'm cooked..... but I still have the old WHS system drive, so if it's on C: the missing HomeRun info might be recoverable. Anybody know?

Well, the .frq and .scn files used by sage are in c:\program files\sagetv\sagetv. What probably happened in your case is you forgot to stop the sagetv service after reinstall but before you copied the files back over. Hopefully, it's as simple as that. If that fixes your problem, great, otherwise here's what I did in the past that may help you fix the current situation.
I grabbed this from a thread I started when I had HDHR problems and this solved it. 1) Backed up Entire SageTV folder. 2) Completely uninstalled Sage and deleted the folder. 3) Reinstalled SageTV. 4) Stopped SageTV Service. 5) Applied the latest native recording patch. 6) ONLY EXTRACTED SageMC 6.3.9b_2, Jetty, Batch MetaData latest phoenix jar files (IN THIS ORDER). 7) Copied over all the 3 files mentioned. They retain all data for favorites and recordings and also settings. 8) Modified Jetty.properties for static IP address and port (I also run Sage Webserver). 8) Made sure SageTV service starts under Administrator and not LOCALSYSTEM and started SageTV service. 9) Fired up SageTV server. All settings present. 10) Applied the latest STV update. Installed SageMC 6.3.9b_2 and then BMT. 11) Went about configuring SageMC with the usual settings. 12) Everything is working fine. |

I found the file where HDHomeRun stores the channel config. On vista, it is here:
C:\ProgramData\Silicondust\HDHomeRun I am using QAM, so the file is named "Digital Cable.xml". When I moved my SageTV install to a dedicated PC (Windows 7), I did this: Installed SageTV Installed the HDHomeRun software and quickly configured it (did not worry about tweaking the channel config), Copied the entire SageTV install folder from the old PC. Copied the "Digital Cable.xml" to the C:\ProgramData\Silicondust\HDHomeRun folder, overwriting the existing one. Now my customized channel config showed up in HDHR config. Registered the SageTV software on the new PC, tweaked some of the media paths, and everything worked perfectly! |

In my case it was that I had re-installed HD HomeRun, but not done anything else.
Once I fired up the HD HomeRun Setup utility and specified "OTA Digital Antenna" for each tuner, I got my channels back, the Program Guide showed programs, and everything else seems tb normal. I didn't scan... just specified the signal source. Live and learn...
