weird.....
I have encountered a few instances of SAP with blind assisance and spanish audio being recorded by SageTV. On these few programs, the audio is placed over the right channel audio. Anybody know why this happens, and how I can prevent it?

How would you enabled SAP in the first place? I know you could do it on the tv, but I didn't think Sage could do it.... Is that statement correct? If so, is your input coming from a cable box and coming in to the PVR on composite?

yeah mine is using composite right now (DSS)
hopefully svideo by the evening, but we are talking about audio personally I have no idea why you cable box is sending SAP do you have the problem when you use the cable box without a pvr 250/sage? I know that yes it is usually the TV or cable box that is doing this have you tried to turn it off on the cable box just so you know you can enable it from my DSS box and when there is no SAP, it does regular audio but when there is you hear it |

If the SAP is only occurring on 1 or 2 stations it may be a side effect of the station switching their equipment over to HDTV. I encountered that when my PBS station was in the process. It only seemed to occur on weekends and after after about 2 or 3 weekends it went away.
BTW: I worked around it by turning off the problem channel (left or right) of the audio.

hmm interesting. All of the shows recorded with this extra audio have been done with the PVR USB2. I cannot turn off SAP because I have straight cable going into the back of my Sage box. My audio is coming out of the Sage box into my speakers. I have also tried pumping the audio through the tv with the same results. I am gonna load the latest drivers for the PVR USB2 and see what happens.

Did you try the work around of rebalancing your speakers so no sound is coming from the one with the SAP?

yeah, and that eliminates the SAP. I just loaded the latest USB2 drivers from SHS's site, and that seems to have eliminated it for now. I will watch over the next few days to be for sure.

you really cannot access the menu of the cable box from in Sage?
I can with my box, ok that recording or whatever you are watching will be crap cause of the menu being in it but I would use the cablebox remote and just turn it off I do not understand why you cannot also make sure your cartoon network is the english one if there is a spanish one do you want some recording done with SAP??????????? I would try resetting the cable box also report to the cable company and ask why my TiVo is doing this reinstall the drivers for it try the ones from the cd that came with the card they may not do as good of quality but no spanish bull then update over the top of the old drivers and software |

I have no cable box. I am going to do a complete driver overhaul, but I am going to wait a day first. I reset my box for the first time in a week last night to see if that would clear it up. One step at a time. I just don't understand what would set the PVR USB2 to start recording it. It's not apparently an easy setting to do. Especially since I don't have Wintv2000 installed.

what?
you do not have a cable box then where in the world is it getting the spanish broadcast I did not think the hauppauge cards supported SAP???? still sounds like you have the spanish cartoon network in your guide |

no its the cartoon network in english. When I split the signal and put it in the back of the TV I get normal audio. When it's going through the Sage box, the tv is getting spanish audio in the right channel. I also got this one night in CSI, but instead it was a man describing all of the scenes and who was talking etc...... I am pretty sure the PVR cards support SAP. I am just not sure what turns it on for me.

There was a Hauppauge driver that gave me SAP but that was awhile ago. What version are you running? Maybe the later version have the bug back.

It was the latest version on the SHS site. The other night I installed the Beta version that came out recently. I guess I need to go back a couple of versions.

actually the version at SHS's is the new non beta version at the hauppauge website
did you use hcw.clear.exe to uninstall the drivers and software you may want to try that and then install the newest drivers/software also shs has a special tool called unregister.bat if you use it run it before hcw.clear.exe( this will uninstall everything but the hauppauge decoder) you may want to uninstall it manually(the decoder) |

I did a hcwclear.exe last night, and reinstalled the drivers from the last full cd before the latest ones. Since futurama and family guy don't come on until tonight, I will not know till then. Thanks for all the help. I hope I don't have to resort to unregister.bat, because that means stripping down my machine once more.
This is killin me because this little problem is taking away from my uptime. Everything else is working great, even my 350 output.

Still having the problem. Talking to Hauppauge about it. I have read this to be a problem on the Snapstream side of things with a few people over there also. Could anybody who has a USB 2.0 confirm this. The two shows I can definatly reproduce this problem on are Futurama at 11:00 EST and Family Guy 11:30 EST on the Cartoon Network.
Thanks for any help
