Beta 1.3.4 Available

Beta Version 1.3.4 is now available. This version will reset the trial on the SageTV Client for those of you testing the new Client Version. You must upgrade both applications if you are testing the client version.

Once again, please post any feedback, comments, etc. here in this forum.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Beta 1.3.4 Available

Don't suppose support for Streamzap remote controls made into this build (Jeff said it might be in the next build)?

Re: Beta 1.3.4 Available

Woo hoo. The Client now works for me! Using it over 802.11G wireless network to my laptop as we speak.

Looks really good, smooth, no stutter.

Can I buy my license for it now?

Jason

JJarmoc,

It means you can assign 2 different levels of skip forward/backwards if you'd like. There's now a skip fwd#2 & skip bkwd #2 command in Setup->Commands. You can change the values in the properties file just like for the original ones.

JasonJoel,

I attempted to put StreamZap support in there, but it's not working correctly yet. I didn't have the hardware before I did the build, so I went at it blindly with their SDK. I was just able to test it today with the hardware and found it didn't work. It'll be fixed up for the next build, the code's in there, just gotta debug it now.

Glad to see your networking's running now. Enjoy!

You'll be able to buy client licenses soon; just wanted to get a few more features & fixes in it before we release.

Jeff,

Is the DVCR sync solution changed from version of mpegmux.ax you emailed me (for 1.3.3)?

I've changed it since then, you can email me for a fix (I've fixed it again since 1.3.4).

Re: Beta 1.3.4 Available

One thing I really don't like about the Client is that it seems to break if you put the client machine into Standby then come out of standby.

Here is what I mean:

1. Connected to my server via the Client app from my laptop
2. Watch some shows
3. Put the Client on my Laptop to sleep
4. Put the laptop in Standby (which I do a lot since it is a laptop)
5. Return from standby
6. Double click SageTV client in notification area
7. SageTV Client opens just fine...
8. Go to Sage Guide or Live TV Guide, it looks like it works
9. Select a show to watch, here is where the trouble starts... It won't ever show the program. In fact, I can't get into the TV app part at all. It just doesn't go... No error, etc, but no working either.

Doesn't seem to work anymore, I have to close it and reload it then it works correctly again.

It's because it loses the network connection to the server when the computer is put into Standby. The server is no longer getting any communication from the client, so it assumes it's dead and drops its connection. That means you need to restart the client so it re-initializes the communication channel with the server....but you're right, it should popup some sort of error message indicating that.
Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, I understand why it does it...

But what it should really do is just try to reconnect by default. If it can't (network is really down for instance) then pop an error.

Oh yeah, and I REALLY hope you guys don't try to milk us too bad for the client software...

I hope that the price is either a.) a site license or b.) a 5-pack type license.

I really want to put client on 3-4 machines (all in the same house of which probably more than one will ever be in use at once). I'll be a little mad if I'm expected to pay for 4 copies of the client software (unless maybe it is $9.99 )

Jason
