Why is Sage telling me there is a conflict?
There are two shows scheduled to record on Sunday evening May 22. There are two tuners available so there shouldn't be any conflict but Sage is telling me there is a conflict. Details:
Program 1 - 60 Minutes on 3-1 from 7-8 PM with padding of one minute before and 90 minutes after Program 2 - Nature on 12-1 from 8-9 PM with padding of one minute before and none after Why would this cause a conflict? There are two tuners available. |

OK there seems to be something buggy about the way Sage handles padding. When I deleted the 60 Minutes favorite and went to the Parallel Schedule it showed a manual recording still there for 3-1 between 7:59 PM and 10:30 PM Sunday which is what the 90 minute padding after 60 Minutes would have been. So I had to delete that manual recording as well. Sage seems to be gagging big time on a 90 minute padding. BTW the reason for the 90 minute padding is that the start time for 60 Minutes is often delayed by half an hour or more by a sport event running over its allotted time. My workaround for the time being is going to be to use my DTVPal DVR to record 60 Minutes.

Have you tried making both recordings manual? I have seen strange problems like this but it was a long time ago. It may be a scheduling issue within Sage, but I am sure you can work around it by making both recordings a manual recording. If it is a issue with padding you should report it to Sage.

Thank you! I went to TV / Schedule Recordings / Create Timed Recording and was able to set up a recording of 3-1 from 6:59 PM to 10:30 PM every Sunday and it doesn't create any conflicts. I still think there is a bug with the way Sage does padding.

You got there but I think you took the hard way. I expected you to just go to the program guide and select 60 minutes and make it a manual recording. It should then ask you if you want to inherit the shows padding, which I expected you world. You would then do the same with nature. My way is for a sone time recording. Your way will work every week but does not consider if the show is a rerun. The recording will not also show the name of the show, name will be based upon the time of the recording.
One other thing that bothers me a little is than Nature on most PBS stations is shown at least twice. I just checked my guide and this weeks show is scheduled for both 2 AM and 4 AM. I assume PBS has special programming for its normal time. Anyway, If the was a conflict Sage should have found another time to record Nature that did not conflict. Please check you guide and see if Nature does have multiple airings that could have avoided the conflict.

I've never seen padding causing something unexpected, and padding doesn't create a timed recording to do it either. If, when you removed the favorite, there was still a timed recording showing, then THAT is the problem. At some point, a Timed recording was set up, which will have a higher priority than any favorite.
Also, when carlgar was saying to make the recording manual, he meant to mark that airing as a manual recording, overriding it's favorite status, NOT create a timed recording. Basically, if you have sage populated with guide data, you really shouldn't ever need to create a timed recording for anything.
