Clarification of rules please...

The rules state:

"this subforum is to be used only for posts regarding buying, selling, or trading SageTV hardware and software. No other items may be bought, sold, or traded here and no other forms of advertisements are allowed."

Can I trade SageTV hardware / software for other non-SageTV hardware or software?

Could I trade some licenses and hardware for a boxee, for example? just curious.

Second, should bids be on the forums, or a private message?

A trade is a form of payment, so I don't see why other items couldn't be payment if someone is offering SageTV items for sale or trade in the original post here.

I suppose you could offer public bids, but I would suggest the details of the transaction be handled privately via PM or email... you don't really want your addresses and/or emails posted publicly, do you?

Would computer hardware such as tuner cards, colossus, hd-pvr and the like be OK? Maybe even cpu, mobo, psu...

SageTV never made those types of hardware products. As already stated, this marketplace is for SageTV hardware & software only.

FIRST THANK YOU FOR THIS! At least I can get another client.

Q1:
Hey, can I trade someone my client license for theirs, so we can each run an extra now? Assuming not.

Q2:
So I'm assuming there are no licensing concerns that my main server has my name baked into the key, but a client may not match the name on my server.

Please read the rules sticky at the top of this forum. I think it is quite clear that sharing of licenses is not allowed, since those rules state:

How about no sale but a gift.... Through the years I have used many plugins programs etc... provided by many users here for free that did not request donations.

If you want to trade for a "Thank you", that's up to you.

Please just remember that you can't give any one thing to more than one person nor continue to use it after giving it away.

Location in sale/trade posts for hardware

Hi all,
Could people posting to sell their unwanted hardware also add some basic location info?

I'd like a hd200 or 300, but don't really want to PM people to find they are in Australia and shipping will cost a load.

Am in the UK you see, so overseas shipping has to be figured into the item cost.

Cheers all.
Si

Also, it might be a good idea for the OP to edit the title/subject with "SOLD" when the item(s) are no longer available to purchase or trade. After a few weeks/months, it might make it easier to browse thru and see what is still available.

I understand that you don't want the marketplace to turn into a free-for-all, but is there any chance you/Jeff will loosen up the rules a little bit more? It would be awfully nice to be able to sell related tuners/capture devices along with the extenders and software licenses. The SageTV store sold those devices when it was still up.

Unfortunately, I think only admins can edit the titles.

It's possible to edit your own Title:

Click on Edit
Click on Go Advanced
Update Title: text box
Click on Save Changes

I just did this for the first post in a thread I started back in Dec 2011.

This doesn't seem to update the title that is shown in the thread list.

So far, I haven't found any setting to allow editing titles in only 1 subforum. However, you should now be able to close or delete your topic here.

Andy,

I need some licenses and would like to offer a tuner (not purchased here) for trade. Is that acceptable, since my end-goal to acquire a SageTV product?
