ir-200l setup problem

I have just recieved my IR-200L and I am trying to set it up with one of my 250 USB2's. The problem I am getting is in the setup wizard it goes through everything fine until I get to the setup of the IR200L device.
When it asks for the port # i can not select anything. I do not understand what is wrong. I am running XP pro with Sage 2.1 r7
Please help me anybody...

ok that worked.

But now when I add my cable box (Scienific Atlanta Explorer 8000 DVR)
I gat a quick flash of a screen that must be asking me to press something because right after that I get a screen that tells me to release the button.
I do not know what it is asking me to do. Then Sage crashes


Even if I pick another sci atlanta box that is built into sage it crashes.

Ok now I finished going through the setup and programmed the remote codes. But now it does not change the channell on my cable box. I have the ir-200L positioned 6 inches from the box.
I have tried it on either side and in the middle, but still nothing.
Any ideas?

I habe a SA3100 and SA8000 DVR.
Neither of them will change.

Can somebody tell me what to try next? Is there a way to test it out on something else?

Are you seeing the little red light inside the unit flash on and off when trying to change the channel? You say it's six inches from the box, is it pointing at the remote reciever on the box?

yes I am. I re-installed Sage and now it works fine. Now I am wondering how I would get a second one working?
I have another cable box that I want to use, to resolve conflicts of shows above channel 125. What would be my best move?
A USB model or another IR200L with a serial2USB adapter?
