Naylia,

I finally got around to moving my Xlobby / SageMC machine onto Vista Ultimate 32...was always an XP system...I am know having that same focus problem that you helped me fix ages ago using Tweak UI (click on Xlobby to go to SageMC, Sage maximizes, but doesn't steal focus...Vista seems to have this same problem, but I don't have tweak UI...any ideas?

thanks,

mv

I'm happy to take a look at this but it won't be until next week. I have to turn in a draft of my graduate thesis this week and that is consuming 100% of my time. I'll try to take a look at this next Monday and see if I can replicate it/figure out how to address it.

Naylia,

thanks for responding. I fixed the problem by using a program called "sendfocus.exe"...I added that to the events so that the Xlobby button would first send the command to SageTV to "power on" and then the sendfocus bat file would run telling Vista to focus on SageTV...it works great.

As a second aside, I have moved on and I am now using Windows Server 2008 and although it has taken the better part of the weekend and some time yesterday, I know have my system working again...mostly...Server 2008 is a bit of a challenge beyond Vista as I need to have some programs launch from the administer account, some from the user account, configure some things as the adminstrator, some things as the user, and some things as the user but "run as administrator'...as you can imagine I was very close to giving up...but I've turned the corner...good luck with your Thesis!

Ugh. I remember those days. This falls into the category of things I'm glad I did but never ever ever ever want to have to go through again.

Good Luck!

Aloha,
Mike

I'm glad you found that, sendfocus was always a good backup for any situation where focus wasn't working properly. I orginally relied exclusively on it, but had switched to the TweakUI fix since that was a little easier to maintain. Glad you got everything working.

I'm getting there on the thesis. I hope to have my first draft done tonight.
