It would appear that you guys were right.

I re-installed MT and left it unregistered. It's been running smoothly from within Sage now for 30 minutes. That's about 10 minutes longer than it ever did previously.. so, I'm hopefull that this might have fixed the problem.

Thanks !

Hi all.

I'm using a fully registered (legit) version of MT and the trial of Sage.

Unfortunately, this plugin seems to cause some issues for me.

It only happens when I'm actually watching a show live. It hasn't happened once when I simply let Sage record shows unattended.

Another user previously posted this same issue...

Error: Access Violation at 0x0C366D64 (tried to write to 0x04E00004), program terminated.

I don't see how it can be related to other plugins I might have installed in MT if this crash only occurs while watching a Live show.

Any ideas? This is (almost) the final hurdle I need to overcome. Unfortunately, as it stands right now.. this crash occurs about once every couple of hours while watching LiveTV.

Thanks guys.

Is it Sage or MyT that crashes?

Rickgillyon,

It looks like it's MT that is crashing.

I see the error message. And the video of the show I was watching stops (obviously). Then, when I close down sage MT has usually already shutdown.

You're on MT 3.38?

You'll probably get more answers on the MT forums, seeing as it's a MT crash. Doesn't explain why it's only when watching though, as that doesn't affect MT.

You have video and audio turned off in MT?

Sounds like it must be a resource-related thing if only happening during playback.

That's true.. it does sound like a could be a resource issue. Hmmm.. I'll see if I can get some suggestions over on the MT thread.. but they'll likely not be all that helpful seeing as this is a Sage/MT issue.

Thanks

Just tell them MyT crashes while watching, don't mention Sage, see if you get any ideas.

You do have video turned off in MyT, yes?

Cool

I did setup latest SageTV with MT with NDSCAM, I getting very slow channel change like 8-13 sec.

I did

seeker/fast_mux_switch=false
videoframe/network_encoding_to_playback_delay=1500

Anybody can advice?

How fast until the video appears on changing channels in MyT?

Try lowering your buffer in MT if its not already.

the problem is with MT even though you may have turned off the buffer, MT sets aside about 10megs to buffer no matter if you set it 5 megs etc... On top of that Sage hold a bit back too. so thats why things take for ever.

To help combat this, I lower my sage buffer right down to 1 meg and that helped out a lot but still is not the perfect solution. And you will run into trouble is you have other analog cards in use. So if you go this route, then set up the encoder in sage as a digital tuner and then "only" lower the digital tuner buffer.

Try disableing your plugins except the sage on and then go to a fta channel and see if it crashes.

Ya thats as low as you can go. My channels changes are around 6-10 sec in Sage and around 3-4 in MT so its not that different. I don't really watch live tv anymore so I don't notice it at all. I know it takes time to transfer the video to sagetv. I dont know what else it could be.

This sounds like a good suggestion. I've got a PC running the MT encoder plugin, and it will work for months at a time without problem.

I used this as my network encoder

mmc/encoders/12345/capture_config=2058
mmc/encoders/12345/default_device_quality=

mmc/encoders/12345/encoder_merit=0
mmc/encoders/12345/encoding_host=127.0.0.0\:6969
mmc/encoders/12345/encoding_host_login_md5=
mmc/encoders/12345/forced_video_storage_path_prefix=
mmc/encoders/12345/last_cross_index=0

mmc/encoders/12345/video_compressor=
mmc/encoders/12345/video_encoding_params=
I have also used this to lower the digital buffer in my sagetv server. (warning this will affect other digtial tuners like DVB-T or ASTC cards)

default is
Code:
default_pause_buffer_size_dtv=8388608
and I've set it to
Code:
default_pause_buffer_size_dtv=4194304
you could go lower but I have other thing to test ... this week
Code:
seeker/fast_mux_switch=false
a must for this plugin
Code:
videoframe/safe_fast_file_switching=false
a must of this plugin

other setting thats in my sage file that may help you but use at your own risk !
Code:
videoframe/time_to_start_into_tv_file_playback=1
cant remember what stock setting was, but its a lot higher
Code:
videoframe/network_encoding_to_playback_delay=250
stock is set at 1500

And that makes Sagetv to have 3-5 channel changes for my some channels & 6-10 seconds on others. Let not talk about if my rotor moves from one end of the Clark belt to the other end, it takes almost a minute for a channel change.

I don't know if all these settings can really make a difference. I made a DVBViewer recorder plugin and I just changed "seeker/fast_mux_switch=false" and "videoframe/safe_fast_file_switching=false", and what I can see is: for DVB-T channels, channel change delay is really quick (<1s), but for DVB-S with CAM it is more like 6s (this is exactly the time needed for the CAM to decrypt the signal).

So I guess that it's not SageTV or MT Plugin fault, but it is really MT that is slow.

Note: with DVBViewer channel change is quicker (than using SageTV + plugin + DVBViewer) but it is only because when you use DVBViewer, it use the already used hardware (DVB-S + CAM), so as the CAM is already up and running it is a lot quicker... Unfortunately when using the recorder plugin : the hardware is always initialized.

Note: "videoframe/network_encoding_to_playback_delay=250" it seems that this one is for setting the delay before SageTV display a "No Signal" message... but I may be wrong. I will ask SageTV about all those properties to know what they are really supposed to do.

Missing channels in EPG

Hey Everyone,

I have got MTSageTV working. I love it.

The only problem I have is I am missing channels in the EPG. Channels I have in my SageTV favorites list in MyTheatre do not show up in the EPG. I have looked at my video source and the missing channels are there and are enabled, they just don't show up in the EPG.

Can anyone help me out? I apologize if this question has been asked before.

Cheers

J
