MyHD Encoder for SageTV

1) When the encoder is started, you should see a little brown icon w/a sailboat in it in your system tray.... do you see it?

2) When the encoder starts MyHD, you should see the MyHD blue TV icon in the system tray... do you see it?

3) Did you ensure that MyHD IRC app isn't running? Your log file symptoms suggest that it is running (and thus preventing MyHD and the encoder from communicating w/each other).

My IRC was the culprit. I thought it was off, but it was not. It is now communicating, sort of. Now I need to get the program guide, in Sage, to select the channel for me. At least I'm making progress, albeit slowly. Must be a mapping problem?

Make sure you read through this thread over the last month or two to get some wisdom about getting channels to change and recordings to start. Timing is important.

Regarding channel mapping, I'd recommend creating virtual channel assignments in MyHD for any subchannels that are not along on their physical main channel. For example, if MyHD has QAM channels 122.2 and 122.3, create virtual channel numbers for both of them so that SageTV has something unique to target. The encoder is unable to tune subchannels (and thus will always end up on the first one) due to a limitation in the MyHD remote control API (or perhaps due to a limitation in my knowledge of the API).

I now have my virtual drive showing as Disconnected, but I can't repair it. Any ideas, please?

unless my system is odd, the drive STAYS disconnected even when recording. mine is right now recording and disconnected.

So assuming that disconnected is okay, as per Kirby, here's my log. As you can see, not really getting anywhere. Any ideas?

It will always to say "Disconnected Network Drive" b/c I specify in the mapping code not to notify explorer (this makes it less obtrusive).

he mapped S: to e:\myhd instead of e:\. trying to get rid of the subst map but he's having issues with "subst /d s:".

I suppose he could just add another "myhd" dir, so he would have e:\myhd\myhd, but thats kinda ugly.

I've now got the MyHD Encoder to communicate with Sage. Not really sure what finally made it all work, but it's now functional. Thanks for all the help on this forum.

For anyone using this on a regular basis, watching live tv... will it continue on to the next show without any issue for you? so far, I have not been able to get the MyHD to keep playing into the next show, whereas my other tuners (qam, ota, r5000) do it just fine. Was there something in the mmc/encoder lines that salsbst gave in this thread that would cause this? Or is it just a limitation of the MyHD encoder (and if so, I will adjust its priority accordingly).

I tested this and had it working at some point. Keep in mind that "playing into the next show" is going to take stopping and starting the encoder. Due to the lack of a real API for MyHD, that process is quite slow, so it's going to take a while for the next airing to actually kick in and be renderable.

Maybe its just a conflict on my system then.. But I waited a good five minutes at one point last night, by accident, and the next show never started up. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that it was a show I scheduled to record, then came in half way through it to start watching. But I would have figured the Sage core would tell the encoder to go on to the next show?

An encoder doesn't know from "shows."

Sage would tell the encoder:

1) stop recording channel 13.
2) start recording channel 13 to a new file.

It's possible you suffered from another sort of timing problem. Care to
attach the log file from the incident?

Yeah I will do that tonight. Actually I will do it from a clean restart, since my log file is from about 2 weeks of runtime right now and I dont feel like trimming it! Hopefully I can re-create the issue. I have a feeling its going to be like taking a sick kid to the doctor's. Get there and he feels fine!

If the encoder indeed shows no warnings or errors in its log, then we probably *should* look at the SageTV log.

We don't need the whole log, just the portion around the time that the show should have been recorded.

Unless I don't know how to read my own log files, the football game stopped recording at 3:19pm, and then out of nowhere almost 4 hours later, an error was reported, followed by the successful beginning of the 60 Minutes recording. Which recording failed? 60 Minutes?
