Choppy video when Fast motion
Sage is great, I have finally got everything all setup and it's all runnig smoothly. But you always have to tinker and have fun.
![]() The issue I noticed is when there is fast moving objects IE: Sporting events, car racing and such, there is a definete almost drag of the picture across the screen. I know some people have noticed this before and wondering if anyone found a good solution. Below is my setup: Intel 1.7ghz PVR250 Capture Card Asus Nvidia 5200 Video card 256 MB RAM 120 GIG Hard drive. Thanks |

Have you tried something around 3GB/H? In another thread, Jeff indicated that that would be an acceptable quality for sporting events.

I have tried all settings. If Jeff said it would be "acceptable" wouldn't it be "better" if it was MAX 5.6 GB/hour?
Thanks' |

What video codec are you using to process the video? If you haven't already, try PowerDVD5 with hardware acceleration set to on.

If you install PowerDVD, WinDVD or one of several other DVD/MPEG2 playback programs, SageTV will allow you to select these playback filters to playback the TV MPEG2 files. The advantage to this is you can experiment with various filters to find what looks best on your monitor or TV.
One you've installed PowerDVD you can then go into SageTV Setup>Detailed Setup>Video tab and select the Cyberlink SP option under the Video Decoder box. Click OK and return to SageTV. Changing the channel in SageTV should now redisplay the video screen, now using the Cyberlink SP (PowerDVD) filters. I usually like to start PowerDVD separately first and make sure that hardware accleration is set to ON first before selecting it from SageTV. You can also take one of your SageTV recordings and try playing that back in the different DVD players. If you find a program that gives you the picture you want, you can probably select those settings in SageTV to get the same picture quality there as well. You've got a Geforce 5200 card so I'm betting PowerDVD with Hardware Acceleration set to ON is going to look pretty good with your card. I have an MX440 card here and interlaced playback of Sports, etc, looks excellent using the 2.5gb per hour DVD recording setting in SageTV. |
