That'd look nice, but the way I wrote my code I can't stack buttons horizontally, only vertically. I could keep them with the same vertical alignment and just move one to the other side, but that looks a little weird.
It was worth a shot.

Very true

But I think the first one with the buttons one one side and the image on the other looks pretty darn good good.

DVD menu with thumbnail slide show using dissolve transition effect

Come on, how cool is that

Note: youtube is having some problems with the video, you may need to play around with the slider to get it going.
update: Fixed it!

hehe

This one actually might be me because I only included 8 frames of audio in the video which might have messed them up a little bit I'm uploading a new one that should work much better

Hey, i've got a menu i'm laying out and I can't figure out how to make it to look good. I'm not really graphically inclined so any advice you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing that I really want to make clear is that the number and duration are only tied to the multi-video buttons.

I think I would put all of the buttons together at the top of the menu and the info at the bottom. Then I would only have the info be visible when a multi-video button has focus.

I think that'll work nicely, I'll give it a shot this weekend.

OK to use this with version 6?

I am considering upgrading to version 6 beta soon, and was wondering if this plugin works with 6.xx? Anything different in setting this up, should I just get the latest SageMC (or run the SageMC installer to update components)?

Perhaps it may be best to delete everything and start from scratch, keeping the wiz.bin.

As a side note, a few mods and add-ons (this one in particular) kept me with SageTV... I hope the Sage folks realize how valuable you contributers are!

Evilpenguin, maninmaui, neilm and many others, this beer's for you

Glad you like the plug-in

You know what, i'm actually not 100% sure if v1.4.2 is Sage v6 compatable They made a few changes to SageTVTranscoder.exe that I know will affect it a little, but i'm not sure if they are show stoppers or not. I'll give it a shot tommorow and find out for sure.

On my SageTV client machine where I had it set up on 5 ...

I had the DVD buring plugin setup under version 5 on my SageTV Client and when I first installed version 6 it didn't seem to work when I tried to reinstall the plugin in version 6.
I wasn't sure if I was trying to take too many shortcuts on the reinstall process so I just tried reloading the STV from version 5 (SageTV3-4.xml on my machine) and found buring was still working smoothly.
I only use the client machine currently for DVD burning and deleting files as I have a ATI Remote Wonder II hooked up to it and it's just too frustrating to try to work the SageTV interface with it when the Remote Wonder doesn't want to cooperate.

Sadly I can't tell you more as I haven't tried another reinstall with so many other projects on the table and so many TV shows to watch

Well, I think v1.4.2 should work in v6 beta, but only in SageMC and not the default STV. Rather than do a quick patch, I'm just gonna say wait for the next version which prolly won't drop until v6 leaves beta.

Penguin,

One thing that changed and it screwed up my encodes is that the sagetvtranscoder in 6.12 changed the way bitrates are passed to it.

And things like video bitrate and maxrate are now in bits/sec instead
of kbps.

Yikes, I didn't know that! In that case, v1.4.2 won't work at all in v6.0.12. Is that a new change since the first beta, 6.0.11?

You know what?? This is great! I was off work this last week and wanted to tinker with my HTPC, so I looked at the available customizations and finally took the plunge. Glad I did.

The wife will be back later this afternoon and I will promptly show her how to burn Oprah and Charmed so that we can clear some much needed space. It was either this or going out to buy one of these: ReadyNAS X6

Who knows, I might still go for the storage. Christmas is just around the corner.

Thanks evilpenguin! Do you have a paypal acct for contributions???

Should the SageTVTranscoder.exe process be using 100% of the CPU if it is only demuxing/remuxing? It seems as if the video is transcoding, and not just demux/remux. I'm using the DVD Long Play profile, using a Hauppauge PVR250.

My system specs:

A64 3000+
1GB RAM
SageTV 5.0.4 using SageMC 6.13a

Any ideas?

Thanks.

-Peter
