dirmon2 is started. It's giving the error I talked about before when I described what I typed on the command line. If I type in the full set of paths it works except so far every show has been too big for a DVD, but it works.

The error is saying it can't find the qdvd file, it generates a 0 byte listing and that's it. If you run it by by hand and give it both paths the listing will be populated with stats and all.

So, am I supposed to have 2 entries on the arguements to feed perl2dvd like I do when it works by hand, or just one as the example shows for the dirmon setup.

I just sent you a PM with my email address. If you could please e-mail me your preference files as well as the log files for the DVD's that ended up too large, I would greatly appreciate it. Nothing makes me angrier than a DVD that's too big

As for everyone having the trouble with importing into the default STV, i've decided to just post a full, working, version of the default STV with the burn buttons and the Other Programs widget already included. (You still need to import the dynamic menus to be able to access the "Other Programs" menu)

Hopefully that will get people going while I figure out why my imports not working. Sorry!

I don't know if this will fix the dvd length issue, but once I rebooted the computer the program starting working. I don't know why, when I looked at the task list dirmon was listed before, but created 0 length files. Now it seems like it's doing right.

I'll do some more testing with some of the shows that made the DVD's that were too large to burn. I'll let you know.

I don't have the log files, I deleted everything and started from scratch before the reboot so I'll send one if it makes a DVD too large again.

Works Great!

I have had no problem with the DVD burning mod in the Standard Sage STV. I've imported other STVi's too... Bohica's Hal mod, and the FM Radio STVi. I started Fresh with the standard STV and built the DVD burning mod first and then added the rest. Just following the instructions, and it works great for me.

I would however, add in the instructions, that you have to alter the Sage Properties file to point the "Other Programs" to the working directory of the DVD build. I kinda figured that out myself... but other than that, it's a pretty smooth install.

I'm thrilled. Just to have the auto chapters based on comskip and the multi DVD stuff.

It's Great!

Thanks.

Glad to hear it worked for somebody

Although I think I finally have a line on what's causing it to fail for some people. I think there are a few widgets in studio that point to "Advanced Options" panel and depending on which one is set as the primary reference in your specific STV the import might fail. That's just a guess though, I might have made some of that stuff up

I'll be sure and add "other program" instructions to the install page.

It Works!

Once I got past the install issues - it has worked fine! Thanks for a great addin!

For those having trouble installing the key form me was to instal sage 5 then download and install the default Sage 3 STV. Once I did that in that order the other installs worked as advertised!

Got it working.. well showing up anyway with your new full.xml (btw u have otheprograms included in it.. no need to install stvi again)
I think it works.. but it seems to be transcoding my files.. cpu @ 100%.
I have all my record settings to dvd standard. So, nothing is suppose to show up in otherprograms until the transcoding is done?

Hmm, it shouldn't matter if there is only one or multiple widgets pointing to the panel or whether it is a "primary reference" or not, the "primary reference" concept is just a display thing in Studio, internally all references are handled equally.

If anyone is still not seeing the new items then please contact me by PM, and we'll work something out...

Maybe those who have problems with no buttons in standard stv should post some more infos, maybe we find some similarities.

My system:
- SageTV 5.04 and SageTV3.xml from version 5.04
- Running in Service mode, running client on the same machine
- German Windows XP and German menu language in SageTV (maybe a problem?)
- Unofficial Secret Extra v5 UI Features enabled
- Dirmon2 running as service for ShowAnalyzer (and DVD2perl)
- these imports/ plugins:
* SageTV XMLTV Importer 1.7s from StéphaneM
* Web User Interface for SageTV 2.2/3.0/4.0/4.1+ (v2.8 Apr 7 2006))
* STV Import: STVi importer
* STV Import: Dynamic Customisable Main Menu (v3.4 20/Oct/2005)
* STV Import: Remember play position of imported videos
* MediaPlayer Plugin/STV Import: Winamp Media Player Plugin (without STV modifications by now)
* Plugin: SageRecordings XML file generator
* STV Import: Comskip Playback support for SageTV v4 (v1.3 18/Oct/2005)
* STV Import: MLBDude/Cayars MiniGuide (V0.96/ April 07 2006)
* STV Import: Automatic Aspect Ratio Switcher for SageTV 4

Wow, glad to see people are getting it going. To answer the question about the transcoding...

There are two reasons why a DVD format video would transcode instead of demux/remuxing...

1) The estimated required size of the transcoded video would be smaller than the demux/remuxed video. This either means that the total duration of the videos on the DVD is too long (1.5 hours @ DVD standard play) or my bitrate calculations messed up. In the log file there is an equasion that determines if it needs to transcode or not.

Code:
------------ffmpeg Loop #2 ----------------
(Bitrate - Bitrate Correction)*Duration*60 < Total kilobits on DVD * (Video Duration/Total Duration)
No Transcoding nessisary. Adding Nav Packets
Transcoding Video: "C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\SageTVTranscoder.exe" -i "\\MCEVO\UNC Sage Rec\MythBusters-VodkaMyths-485070-0.mpg" -target ntsc-dvd -acodec copy -vcodec copy "F:\DVD\dvdList.3.WorkFolder\MythBusters-VodkaMyths-485070-0.2dvd.mpg"

2) Some videos in DVD format will demux/remux just fine, however, when I go to put them onto the DVD they error out. I can't figure out why they do it, but I can create a test dvd using 10 seconds of the video that lets me know in advance if the video is going to fail. If it is going to fail, then I have to transcode the video to remove whatever errors it has. In the log file it will look something like...

Code:
------------video Info Loop #2 ----------------
Full Path[2] = \\MCEVO\UNC Sage Rec\MythBusters-VodkaMyths-485070-0.mpg
Extention[2] = \\MCEVO\UNC Sage Rec\MythBusters-VodkaMyths-485070-0(.mpg)
Filename[2]  = \\MCEVO\UNC Sage Rec\(MythBusters-VodkaMyths-485070-0.mpg)
File[2]      = (MythBusters-VodkaMyths-485070-0).mpg
Full file[2] = (\\MCEVO\UNC Sage Rec\MythBusters-VodkaMyths-485070-0).mpg
HDTV[2] = ()@@@MythBusters###Vodka Myths$$$The build team's testing out some classic Vodka Myths while Adam and Jamie do some crafty investigative work to discover who killed JFK %%%

Well, I think I screwed it up ... You were at least partially right, I checked the code and noticed that I was lazy when coding the import. I used a wildcard for the path to the widget, and it seems possible that it might get attached to the wrong one (never happened on my machine though). Will post a corrected version later ...

Actually, it was probably me that screwed up I tweaked your import a little bit after you sent it to me from..
Code:
linkNode  = df_sageutils_Import_findExistingWidget("Detailed Info - Video File/Detailed Info Menu Container/Left Button Panel/*/Options/*/*/*/*/*/false/else/*/GetProperty(\"ui!/advanced_options*/Advanced Options Panel")
to..
Code:
linkNode  = df_sageutils_Import_findExistingWidget("ParallelSchedules//GetProperty(\"ui!/advanced_options*/Advanced Options Panel")
And forgot about it until I saw your post this morning

I am burning my first DVD right now. (DVD+RW)
One wish: Is it possible to use quick erase instead of full erase or make it customizable? Quick erase is so much quicker and perfectly OK for me.

Yeah, currently, you hit burn, everything happens automagically in the background, and anywhere from 20 minutes to 5 hours later (or never if an error occurred) an icon will pop up in your Other Programs menu.

On my todo list for the next version is to make the entry in the other program's menu immediately when it starts making a DVD (it won't do anything if you click it) and update the picture to indicate the progress.

There actually isn't a quick erase option in image burn, but when I was using DVD+RW's for testing I noticed that the first time it erased a specific disc that it took forever, but every subsequent time it did it much faster. So, I think, the first time it formats the disk, and every other time it quick erases.

It was an old DVD+RW which I quickerased on my desktop, so it was empty. Then I saw that ImgBurn did a full erase ...

Hmm... i'll poke around on the imgBurn forums and see what I can find out about the erasing.

Update:

http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s...=1481&hl=erase

According to this thread, imgBurn does it's own magic to determine if the DVD is formatted, which apparently is a little difficult. When it recognizes a formatted disk it will do the quick erase, but when it can't determine if it's formatted or not, it just does a full erase to be safe. I think the problem is that it just didn't recognize window's formatting and thought the disc was blank. Once it's done it's own formatting that it can recognize, though, it'll be all quick erases from then out.
