V 5 picture and video library SLOW

since upgrading to V5 when I use a client to look at either videos or ESPECIALLY pictures performance comes to a standstill.

It seems like Sage is now thumbnailing or opening the video file over the lan every time you open a folder and browse.

my lan is gigabit and both machines are 3G with 1GB ram so its not a performance issue and both machines have always worked fine with every version up until 5.

server is fine but the client is just utterly painful.

Sage Tech Support said to me by email, in answer to my recurringly reported bug (slo-mo playback on occasion, cured by "reload media player"), that I should upgrade to v5 and "see if the problem goes away".

My doctor usually has the same advice: Get these pills and see what happens.

What happened to the practice of diagnosis - in software too?

With the WAF at risk, and with the numerous reports of problems with v5 here (of course, we hear mostly issues here), I am quite reluctant to upgrade. Fix A, break B and C.

Maybe v5.1, eh?
